@SamTheMountainBikeBeast Socialism in the sense of Stalinist Russia and the secret police is evil, but how about democratic socialism? So long as there is freedom of religion and freedom of the press and speech, I say let's give it a try. Because under the current system of capitalism, only the rich get richer and the poor can continue to stay poor. Shame really. The rich got so greedy that what was the middle class is not what it use to be 30 years ago or so.

@bipolarbear9917 Think about Charlie Manson, Jim Jones, Marshal Applewhite, etc. Heck, throw in Hitler too to get an idea of a cult of personality. Trumpism = Trump's cult of personality-like hold over his flock is just about limitless. These sad saps would stick up for him no matter what (even if the rest of normal people in America know Trump to be wrong). If the call goes out from Trump tower for everyone to "drink the cool-aid" then we will know for sure; he wouldn't have to ask twice. .

@bipolarbear9917 Hopefully, Trump will indeed be the first former president to be arrested and put on trial. Yes, downplaying the pandemic and refusing to wear masks is tantamount to drinking the "cool-aid" for Trump cult followers/sheep. And while they (the cult-minded people under Trump's hypnotic spell) do not understand that politics should be about policy and not personality, I can't for the life of me see any redeeming value in Trump's personality. For me, Trump's personality is as about as toxic and repulsive as it can get. What draws folks to him is the very thing that repels rational people that find Trump to be the revolting buffoon and the delusional narcissist that we all know him to be. If he goes to prison, he can forget any hope of a comeback in 2024 (fingers crossed). I just hope Biden doesn't go soft and do as Gerald Ford did for Nixon (extend him a pardon).

It is just another way of Trump (who knows that he has broken the law) to cover his hind-end when the indictment comes down. I don't even think Nixon ever said anything along the lines of a self pardon.
