  3. I had similar hospital experience in Beijing. But if you are an American (my case) the $$$ paid is way less than here in the US. Besides if you were sick enough to seek a hospital I would strongly suggest against economizing there. I have been to China many times and I can't say that I have ever gone back and forth without at least a diarrhea while there. BTW it is NOT just westerners that get sick my counterpart from the Kenyan Embassy was sick for most of his mission in Beijing.

  4. The Atlantean  I don't drink either. I don't drink or toke. I had steam veggies and drank water on the very first evening in Beijing. The following morning I had fever and a diarrhea that I thought I was going to start shitting my organs out. I was supposed to be there for 6 months but my first two weeks were at home losing weight. Again, that was not alcoholic related diarrhea.

  6. Just a small correction here.  The Embassy is in Beijing, you were at the General Consulate.  I still have hard times in seeing how well you eat their food.  I tip my hat to you. I have a horrible time eating their food. Try the food court in the basement of the consulate for good American food (even USDA beef)

  8. C Milk when you land back here in the US you will realize that all you said could be describing the US too. What you are saying is happening in many countries that once we deemed great places to raise a family. I was born and raised in the US and what I see today is very sad. Bigotry is rampant and overlooked by government. Freedom of speech is matched with threats of being shot. In the large cities going out late in the night is no longer a safe proposition. Going to any public large gathering is innerving as we never know if some "crazy" dude will mow us down with an AK47 or AR15. In a small town as you mention being from life may still be different but larger cities the tone is different today.

  10. I'm 6'4 and wear size 13.5 shoes. Once flying into Hong Kong (2014) Eva Air lost both my luggage. Finding pants 32 waist with 36 legs is impossible. Shoes my size is unheard of. I can fully understand what you are saying about China.

Matt, I was under the impression that the concept GANG came from the Europeans.  Kind of a descendant of the tribal days of the middle ages.   Mexico has lots of gangs but they behave more like little corporations and not as an American gang such as crips, bloods, etc.  I believe that the gang "phenomenon" is more of an American thing nowadays.  As to the quality of the influx of immigrants to the US I tend to disagree with you.  About 48% of the new immigrants per year to the US come from Mexico and Central America and most of those (67.2%)  ARE NOT educated at all.  About 32% of them have only elementary education.  These figures you can obtain from the INS / Home land security department.

  32. Chinese food is an acquired taste.  It is not for everyone.  That is always my number problem when traveling in Asia. Number two is the lack of personal space.  You guys have gone a long way to adapt so well in Asia.

I promise that I tried my best doing exactly as it was explained and even showed in the video how Chinese people sit down for relaxation.  So squatting that way my ball sac  touches the ground between my feet. I believe that westerners (Caucasians) tend to have lower sacs than Asians and that pose is not very proper for us.  I did lean ahead to avoid my genitals touching the ground but if I were to defecate like that, the feces would roll down around my bag or even worse hit the ground and splat.  I have heard from colleagues that in Military  they have toilets like that also.  I don't know if that is true or not.  If that is the case my theory here is all wrong.  Either way the prospect is horrible and extremely uncomfortable.  Sitting on a toilet to have a bowel movement should be a relaxing event and not a moment of duress. But hey that is just my opinion on the matter.

We should thank Trump for that "improvement" across the globe.  Recently dad was in Latvia and he had never felt like an intruder in Latvia before.  That feeling of not liking foreigners specially in China it is because the actions of Trump during the election.  Be sure it will get worse during the Trump administration.   52. I totally agree with you and the key word in the past our ancestors have eaten horrible things but we have PROGRESSED. The stuff that is in the Chinese diet is down right atrocious. In most cultures scorpions are to be feared and not ingested. Rats are gross pretty much anywhere else on the globe. In China it is lunch!!! C'mon, that is gross. Here in the US we do eat other gross stuff too such as cow brain, cow liver and so on. But RAT other than China I don't think even in poor Africa they eat rats. That is nasty. Winston's video as video quality and they are good but this last iteration the color is well balanced, the iris didn't fall behind at all and the content had TV quality content and dam near movie quality. This one is definitely above video quality. C-Milk has gone ahead of the crowd for sure.
