My favorite was when FEMA told everyone that every household is responsible for stockpiling two months of food as a minimum, and a week later Homeland Security got a nationwide warrant for the identities and addresses of everyone who may exhibit the ability to have more than one month's supply of food on-hand. (Yes, it was an open warrant still valid and used today; if you buy enough canned goods, spaghetti, and rice to last a month, the grocery store and your bank/credit card company have to report you.)

  5. Yes. Quite emphatically, yes, that's the court interpretation of the existing laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. Of course, the U.S. government doesn't always obey its own laws and courts . . . example, LASER was created by an East German dentist for the purpose of performing surgery. The West used his patents to create the optical CD, and the U.S. government indemnified Sony Corporation of Japan creating the CD and manufacturing CD players, as well as the many military uses of lasers that the U.S. made. After the reunification of the Germanies, that dentist sued and eventually won, but I don't think he was ever paid.

And when you hear those fund managers talking about "stakeholder capitalism," realize that stakeholder capitalism was the economic management platform of the Deutsche National Socialist Party -- which has a much better-known and shorter name -- and that a similar campaign preceded its drive into power, as a result of economic and social failures driving backlash! History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

Between governments arranging for vulnerabilities, and these obviously orchestrated widespread disruptions to cause projects to collapse, I think we have found how everyone outside Russia is going to be forced onto Windows 11. We'll know for sure, if there's a drive to "recycle" (destroy, not reuse) all computer hardware that does not meet Windows 11 requirements -- and then, we'll know that Windows 11's flaws are deep and purposeful.

But since I have never seen it in any interaction with Mint's staff in HexChat when I have looked for help with issues, then I figure that is just the Universal fact of all of Discord being trash.

Since the U.S.A. uses Five Eyes agencies for domestic surveillance gathering (in addition to all those law-enforcement agencies that buy commercial gathering to avoid warrants), then multiply that by five! Then there's all the other foreign countries . . . .

  26. You are mostly correct, except that legal precedent can only be set at the Appellate level. A Circuit Court of Appeals has to confirm a lower Judge's decision before that judgement becomes precedential, although when that judgement comes before the Circuit Court of Appeals, all existing judgements in similar cases can be brought in as support or to denounce the case that is being heard. EDIT: And then, the case can be brought before a trium of Appellate judges to confirm that Appellate judge's decision, and then, a vote can be asked of all judges at the Appellate level on that Circuit. Check the 9th Federal Circuit for some really shady stuff that happened last year in its Circuit Court of Appeals.

The window for nominations has closed, I'm morally certain that suggestion is why he didn't report this lack of nominees in the hours before the nomination window closed! But I haven't read SuSE's charter, so I don't know if the existing Board Members simply retain their positions by default! Maybe the address for nominations prints directly into an accidentally-placed shredder?

  42. @xravenx24fe  It's just an observation I realized about two months ago; I hardly ever mention it, but I haven't found anything pointing at the observation being wrong since I had it. "Stakeholder capitalism" was suddenly a term, and I dug into original source documents to find out what it was; a long time went by, and then I was watching a video here on YouTube about why those particular bad guys never had strategic bombers, and it was talking about the founder and top engineers at Junkers being forced out, and the term for the new management policy that made that happen was a political-social-economic policy that was exactly word-for-word identical to the (convoluted, complex, and wordy) definition for "stakeholder capitalism"! So, I am stumped. The guy who is famously the person who introduced the term is the son of a man who was highly successful as that -- and that father was the model for Ian Fleming's man who pets the white cat, identified twice but only in Fleming's personal correspondence!

The people prone to believing that the people saying it were knowledgeable and successful role models perhaps led to those easily convinced and prone to being self-righteous learning to code . . . badly . . . and with inadequate concern for the usefulness of their work-product.

  47. That shareware graphic calculator in Apple OS . . . I think it was 8.1 - 9.2.2 . . . was the best I have ever used! It's too bad the creator stopped issuing licenses to activate the full version, but even the trial mode helped a lot of students visualize and get interested in learning higher maths!
