  1. To everyone saying, "Tell it to Elon," and everyone writing against that: How do you think Elon knows how to recognize the wasteful spending? He received a LOT -- it's how he figured out how to make the first successful electric car company in recorded human history, despite electric cars predating the internal cumbustion engine powered cars -- and he has a lot of experience, now, reviewing business ledgers! You are all correct -- and exactly wrong about what part you think you are right about!

  3. I don't disagree, but that simply isn't how the government works. A great deal of government spending -- from local to federal -- is through grants. Those can quickly become very corrupt, because a grant is granted by a Board of Review, which is often its own oversight, and audit is limited to making slightly sure that the Board is not actually directly pocketing the funds -- but anything beyond that, is outside the purview of the audit! I have seen this too much at the local level -- both the use of federal grants, and the appropriation and eventual disbursement of local grants -- to see the whole process as anything but bottomless and frequently destructive corruption.
