If people want to produce scholarships for paid internships, they get to set the rules on where those paid positions go. If we want Debian to be able to offer a couple of paid internships that don't conflict with the Debian Code of Conduct, etc., then we have to do a Give-Send-Go or other subscription to pay for it. That's, "He who has the gold makes the rules," basic!

@belstar1128 Elementary OS is woke-adjacent, sometimes, but it was created for use in deeply rural schools in India for K-university + adult continuing education (that would be the Woke part, bringing Woke education into the deepest hinterlands). But India is very, very, far from Wokeness; and the Endless OS user base has expanded quickly in Central and South America because of the same need for educational computers that aren't connected to the Internet. Rural and deep-jungle schools tend also away from Wokeness, something about people being deeply connected to Survival , First. Just don't start arguments in the Forums, keep discussion to computer issues, and you'll be fine.

Scholarships can set whatever rules they want, restricting applicants. The best scenario is for users to sign-on to fund open scholarships, without such restrictions. If you ever hear that 80% of college scholarships go unclaimed, it's because so many can only be applied-for by people who meet a very narrowly-tailored set of conditions.

@ryandodrill6904 You are WRONG! The paid internship positions are created not by Debian, but by an outside scholarship created by a donor-funded non-profit foundation. Get your facts straight; Lunduke spent a lot of his time in this video talking about exactly this issue!

@belstar1128 It was made by Indians, but for the past several years a lot of the devs are in South America, and quite a few in Central America. I don't know how many are North American or European, but English, French, and Spanish are the languages of the full version. I think English is because it is a major unifying language, still, in India -- India has six major regional languages, hundreds of dialects, and requires every student to learn four of its six major languages -- and French seems to be because it is such a major trade language, while Spanish is both a major trade language and the language common in Central and South America, the Philippine Islands and Pacific; there are many languages that Endless OS comes in, but those three are the ones that have a "full version" available. I'll warn you that Endless definitely fits the typical Linux distribution cycle: x.x.0 always have something significant broken, x.x.1 works admirablely, x.x.2 fix little glitches and add features, and x.x.3 breaks stuff, driving the creation of a new x.x.0!
