Funny the goverment even admitted that tax on cigarettes already paid twice over for the cost to the nhs this was before it even rose this high?

@Orbital_Inclination lol, breweries have always done that the day the smoking ban came in the pub trade went into decline, my grandparents used to run a pub and even they said it killed the trade.

@SM-fk5or that’s productivity, my comment was about the cost to the nhs not productivity? Strange how even on the NHS’s own website they say the cost is £2.6 billion. “It is estimated that smoking has cost the NHS in England £2.6 billion per year. Tobacco dependency services currently exist in primary care, and community and mental health care services. The NHS long term plan also commits to providing NHS-funded tobacco treatment to all patients admitted to hospital and pregnant women by 2023/24.” 😂

@macsmiffy2197 would they? Most pubs sell hardly any food? Compared to alchohol. The pubs by me don’t even sell food and theyre always packed?

@Orbital_Inclination where is this greater alcohol education and changes amongst younger people? The U.K. has the worst underage drinking rates in Europe 😂a lot of pubs are now free of trade so the brewery isn’t in charge. It’s funny that even the guy who runs Wetherspoons say the smoking ban affected his buisness 🤔
