@broncogrizz Factually incorrect and deliberate misinformation. The cost of new build wind is in the range of $27 to $73 MWh and existing coal $28 to $113 MWh. Australia has no existing nuclear so its cost is between $142 and $222 MWh.

@buildmotosykletist1987 Only because the French government owned EDF subsidies nuclear energy and is €53billion in debt. Recently it turned off two of its nuclear power stations as they couldn’t compete against cheap renewables.

The reason your electricity bill has risen is the cost of fossil fuels, it has nothing too do with renewables cost. In actual fact the AMEO only recently announced the price of wholesale electricity had decreased this last quarter thanks to the lowering cost of wind and solar. Your entire comment was factually wrong.

@knight2425 The AMEO has costed the new transmission infrastructure at$15 billion. To be taken seriously you would have to provide an independent source for your claim of $trillions (or is it a number you made up in your head). Again the reason electricity prices increased was because the price of gas skyrocketed immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine as the world boycotted Russian gas (have you any understanding of world current affairs). The government did make a promise to lower electricity bills by 2025, however this was made before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Do you expect our politicians to foresee all future world events. Seems to me you are the one with the idiotic comment lacking in any understanding.
