They stopped them from fracking due to environmental concerns. Australia is the largest exporter of gas in the world. The problem has nothing to do with exploration leases in Victoria.

@MKay-dd7rh You can't offend me, but I am perplexed what is factually incorrect or open to disagreeing with. 1. Gas exploration leases in Victoria were stopped due to environmental concerns 2. Australia is the largest exporter of gas. 3. That gas exploration bans in Victoria have not caused a worldwide spike in gas prices when in fact it is sanctions against Russia and its 40% supply of gas to Europe that is the major reason for gas price spikes.

@MKay-dd7rh Thankyou for your kind words, and yes it does matter why you do something as it puts decisions into context. What is stupid is thinking that it has anything to do with why gas prices have skyrocketed recently.

@johnangelico667 No we don't. We have federal legislation in place right now that guarantees domestic gas supply and caps the price.

Carbon footprint as a concept was invented by a PR company employed by BP back in the 90s to move the responsibility of pollution from the polluters to the consumers.
