  1. Gillard increased defence spending to 1.93% of GDP in her last budget. That is higher spending than at any time during the Howard years. Granted at 1.6% GDP defence spending was also quite low under her government when you average it out defence spending was only 0.2 % less under Rudd and Gillard who both had a GFC to deal with. Get your facts straight.
