Completely false. Ernie and another bloke Westernised it and presented it a form most people would understand. Read the ship diaries of 17th century Dutch explorers of the North west of Australia that document in detail indigenous welcome ceremonies 200 years before Ernie was born. @johnwoodrow8769 OMG the level of ignorance is astounding. Aboriginal groups for thousands of years performed various types of welcoming ceremonies either spoken, sung, of performed, some had smoking ceremonies as groups interacted on each others land and yes these ceremonies varied widely over the numerous different groups. Richard Walley simply introduced the concept of these to current modern Australia, that's all. The Welcome to country is dismissed as not being Aboriginal culture in an attempt to deny prior ownership rights. Your argument fails on all accounts, your argument was lost. The High court decided you are wrong. Indigenous people have a connection to the land that was not erased by colonialism. You are just factually wrong and persistence of this baseless argument is the definition of insanity. Saying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is just stupidity.
