You join to serve not to be venerated. I did 35 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Don’t be a snowflake.

Yes it is a excellent scheme.

WTF would we be in conflict with Sudan?

@Maddog_sayshello WTF are you on about. I am proud of my time serving and that was all I was pointing out. I fully appreciate many soldiers have had bad experiences and worse. We get a day, build a bridge.

@RaveShaman I just think it's hilarious you think either state would declare war or initiate military action on each other. Is there a club where you perform? Because you are a comedic genius.

@RaveShaman Hence why I chucked in the phrase initiate military action.

@caintindal1671 The French have a Foreign Legion that has performed magnificently for them.
2
@Nathan-ry3yu True, but a change in legislation could change that.

@Maddog_sayshello More than that, you are just a tool, if you are so stupidity naive to think governments don’t change, defence policy swings (sometimes like the wind) then yes you are a snowflake. If you are so unbelievably narcissistic that you think you served to simply defend your personal values well then you are a dolt. I served the Australian people the Lidia Thorpes and the Pauline Hansons. Some people need to grow up.

@S.M.E.A.C And why not? Just interested as my service was half and half, firstly an arms corps and then in logistics. To a grunt everyone is a pogue. Or was your comment just an idiotic thought bubble

@infidel202 Do you mean which battalion of the RAR?

@gone547 There is no doubt Vietnam Vets copped a bad time from some of the public on their return and I feel real pain for any serving or ex soldier who has had to deal with the DVA, but any welfare system that provides financial assistance must have some checks, surely this is reasonable. On a personal note in all the years I was a soldier there were numerous times random people thanked me for my service, I never took it personally I always just understood they were acknowledging the uniform I was wearing. I never once in 35 years ever had someone say something derogatory to me, in Australia.

@infidel202 Sorry I don't know what you mean. I was posted to multiple states.

@infidel202 No RAR, I didn't say I was a grunt. I was Armoured Corps for 15 years. LRVs, MRVs, and then ASLAVs.

@infidel202 Spent some time at Enoggera. Not with 6RAR but used their mess. WO1 Dave Ashley was the PMC. Really nice bloke. I was with 25/49 RQR. We were a composite battalion at the time with a bit of regular, part time, and as I remember they last of the ready reserve.

@RaveShaman This is easily done by control measures. Vetting, background checks, various levels of security clearance, the list goes on. Foreign intelligence services have much easier ways to gain intelligence than to attempt to inbed spys in our military.
