Some will be appointed most will be elected in a public vote. The whole point of a voice is that it is culturally sensitive and appropriate to indigenous culture. It is not much of a voice if it has Western culture forced onto it.

@Larry-Livermore No. It is arrogance of the highest order to suggest the only way indigenous people can decide who is part the the final voice committee is by democratic elections. The voice will have delegates right down into local communities. These positions will be unpaid similar to local councils. It will only be the final dozen or so committee members who actually will have contact with the executive and parliament. It is only right that an indigenous voice decides for itself how it forms. It is not for you or I to decide for them. On a side note I believe a democratic election of sorts is the best way to get representation, but it's not the only way and it has to be culturally sensitive.

I didn't suggest there was anything wrong with Western culture (it does have some downsides) as I am a big fan of it and democracy is as far as I can see the best. However if the indigenous community decide they want to choose their representatives in a different manner that is culturally appropriate for them, then what's the harm in that. Or in your arrogance do you believe it's your way only?

@Larry-Livermore Don't get me wrong western civilisation as practised in Australia as a Secular liberal social democracy is in my opinion the best, I just think we should be little sensitive to other cultures.

@ayianaarthur2551 OMG how stupid are you. At the Garma festival on 30th July 2022. The PM (Albo) announced the proposed wording. It was widely reported in all MSM and social media. All you need to do is a simple 30 sec search on the internet. Clearly your racist dog whistle is deliberate and intentionally deceptive. Or just total ignorance.
