  2.  @michaelmcclure3383  It has varied over the years between different states however a couple of High court rulings regarding Mabo state any biological genealogy. So as examples your father or great great grandmother would be sufficient.

  3.  @michaelmcclure3383  Personally I don’t believe Pascoe has proven any aboriginal genealogy, but he has neither ever accepted public funds based on his supposed aboriginal identity. Certainly people have spent their money on his books perhaps in the belief that any supposed aboriginal identity enhances the credibility of his writings. Writers do this all the time so no big deal there. I read Dark Emu and thought it was very circumspect. People can identify as whatever they what and why do you care I don’t. There are legal requirements to pass to gain financial benefits and if fraud is committed we have regulatory authorities to police it. No doubt fraud is happening, is it costing anything like the previous governments mishandling of a submarine replacement that cost us $3 billion for absolutely nothing. I show you the invoice for that woosie, what evidence do you have of large scale fraud of indigenous identity?

  4. @michaelmcclure3383  As I said I make no defence of Pascoe and if some organisation lends him legitimaticy then more fool them. Several prominent people made fools of themselves backing Dark Emu without critically examining its claims. Indigenous culture was a lot more advanced and complicated than what we knew 50 years ago, but there is no evidence they moved into agriculture. It would have been a backwards step anyway and have made no sense. The agricultural revolution was backwards step for the rest of us, so avoiding it was quite clever, but i digress.

  7. While your comment is not inherently racist it is just stupid. An aboriginals DNA is exactly the same as yours or mine. We are all Homo sapiens. There is no specific Aboriginal genome. What is different is genealogy. Through various court cases and decisions by our High Court what has become accepted legally is to receive public funding as an aboriginal you must first have aboriginal genealogy, identity as an aboriginal, and finally be accepted by an aboriginal group. What benefits do you believe an indigenous person has access to that you don’t?
