Comments by "" (@pwillis1589) on "The AFP should 'walk a mile' in the shoes of the soldiers they're investigating: McGregor" video.
Both these commentators fail to mention that a significant element of the allegations is the eye witness testimony of Australian soldiers to these alleged illegal killings. Just because it is going to be difficult is hardly an excuse not to investigate. Are they suggesting that potential allenged murders be ignored because it is all to hard, it was just war. As for the inane comment that the AFP investigating these allenged crimes need to experience war, to understand it's OK to kill a restrained unarmed civilian, please really is she serious? The morale of the ADF won't be improved by ignoring or sweeping under the carpet allenged war crimes.

@RussellGraystone 35 years and know exactly what I am talking about. I have no problems with killing, but there are rules.

@buildmotosykletist1987 That's you reply. You put yourself at the same level as people who strap nail bombs to intellectually disabled children and then send them into a crowded market place, that's the rules you want to follow. Wake up!

Is all killing in war legal? If so why did we prosecute German and Japanese soldiers and generals after WWII? What did they do wrong?

Why dose it matter No I have a very good understanding of the military justice system ( having been trained in it) and the civilian justice system and how they relate to each other.

@RussellGraystone Don't get the wrong idea I agree with the gist of what Cate McGregor said, it is just a lot of what she said was factually wrong or unbalanced and that informs no one. Yes I agree the process should have been done a whole lot better, but openness and transparency is a function of our society.

Why dose it matter Totally agree. The Brereton report I don't think in my opinion when it started out thought it would uncover much. It then found some shit and keep going. I think that was wrong and it should have pulled up sticks and said yep this is beyond my remit and hand it over for investigation to the AFP or whoever. That doesn't mean Army just sits by, it clearly needed to tidy up the obvious flaws in in its SF elements, in the same way you look internally and decide a particular tactic isn't working and you amend how you attack a certain problem. There is a clear definition between a fault in the system and a criminal act, you can fix both at the same time without effecting each other. This is a bit long winded both this is a complex problem that requires nuanced responses.
