That’s exactly the situation now. So WTF is your point?

@ianhassall3757 So are over 55 white privileged males, again what's your point?

@ipredictariot6371 That was rather hurtful (tanty), I'm going to hold my breath now until you do what I say. All joking aside though I'm not sure I would agree with you that we are in a meritocracy. Almost all our top 10 billionaires inherited their fortune. No ability or talent required at all. Australia was one of the leading countries that instituted social welfare programs and we redistribute wealth through our taxation system. Almost from the beginning of colonisation and certainly once our constitution was formed we have actively oppressed the indigenous population. All I'm suggesting is maybe we should extend some of that good deed doing you were talking about to the indigenous peoples. A advisory body to parliament. What are you so terrified of?

@ianhassall3757 I understand the data, the facts are not in dispute. Several ethnic/cultural groups are disproportionately represented in parliament, so what? At the next election it is possible that there will be no indigenous members in parliament. Again I fail to see what point you are trying to make other than to emphasise the importance of a indigenous advisory body to parliament that is not reliant on elected officials.

@ianhassall3757 Well at least you conceded that stating the parliament has an over representation of indigenous politicians is as pointless as stating the capacity of Avon dam in a discussion about a constitutional enshrined voice. What you have made abundantly clear to me is the total lack of understanding/knowledge that no voters have on the subject and in that regard you have contributed immensely. Thankyou.

@ipredictariot6371 No. I mentioned nothing about distribution of welfare programs. Without checking the data as far as I am aware indigenous people have as much right and access to these programs as anyone, short obviously of the difficulty providing resources to regional and remote communities. This no doubt effects indigenous people disproportionately. As for the rest of your comment I am in general agreement. My comment is in regard to the clear misapprehension in the "no" camp that political representation and an advisory body to parliament are the same. They are not.
