Who said anything about race. A voice is about the original inhabitants being recognised in the constitution. It has nothing to do with race. You have made it about race.

@jnottinghamborn5949 You misunderstand the difference between political representation and constitutional recognition. They are no the same thing.
2
@BigGen222 No it most definitely doesn't. You know little about the history of federation and how our constitution was formed.

@jackturpin7828 There is set procedure in place. It is common public knowledge. I'm astounded you have no knowledge of it.

@Prognosis__ race is a social construct we are all homo sapians.
2
@VoteGreenLeft Yes they are easily confused. A voice doesn't recognise race all it does is recognise the original inhabitants, who at Federation were not consulted about the constitution.

Here is a question to everyone who has commented. How many indigenous people were included in the debates, consultations, and conventions that created the constitution. Doesn't need to be exact I'll accept anything to the nearest 10.

@KIA-MIA-POW I hope so.

@VoteGreenLeft How can it become a third chamber. A voice has no veto power no legislative ability, and no financial delegation. This third chamber BS is a deliberate attempt to strawman. It is nonsensical rubbish.

@jackturpin7828 Yes I agree it could be done somewhat better and as yourself said many indigenous feel this way to. It can be sorted.

@BigGen222 Using the definition of your choice of word "recognise" no not fully. The original constitution in sections 25, 51, and 135 mentions aborigines but only to make them non citizens and deny them voting rights. Some of those sections have now been eliminated and some amended some are still the original wording and have in practical terms been nullified by the racial discrimination act. What is left to be done is rightfully acknowledge the original inhabitants respectfully in our constitution. A voice does that by providing a nonbinding, no veto power, no legislative capability, and no financial delegation body to provide advice only. It is what the indigenous community asked for and is a very modest request.

@jnottinghamborn5949 Well you displayed a view that failed to acknowledge the fundamental difference between political representation and constitutional recognition.
