There needs to be support for sheep and beef farmers who are effected by this decision. Also we are a exporting agricultural nation even in severe drought we export 5 times what we consume. We have a certain responsibility to our markets to provide what they request. Animal welfare is one thing. PETA nutjobs should be ignored.

@Poorlineforeva Exporting livestock is not just about cost. There are issues in some of our markets with consistent cold chain supply.

@Poorlineforeva So Australian primary producers provide some of the healthiest and best livestock in the world. Shipping livestock is always problematic. People welfare beats animal welfare every time.

@Bork_Cruk Calm TFD I don't mean on a individual producer level. Each farmer is free to do what they what. What I mean is that as a country we have a certain responsibility to be consistent with our markets. If we have wide variations between export conditions then our customers are going to shop elsewhere. This goes for coal or education and livestock.

@Bork_Cruk Also the analogy of a four wheel bicycle which obviously is a contradiction in terms and doesn't exist with an established live export industry is quite frankly imbecilic.
