@jamesmorrow1646 Actually I consider myself an ANZAC as I served in a combined Kiwi/Australian unit on an operational deployment in Timor.

@jamesmorrow1646 Yes I understand you are taking a technically correct interpretation of the acronym “ANZAC” , however for those of us that served along side Kiwis on operations and there would be heaps of us the bond created is special/different. Be it in Timor, Iraq, or Afghanistan, ANZAC means far more than your narrow if technically correct interpretation.

Look up the dictionary meaning of hyperbolic idiocy.

@jamesmorrow1646 You need to check your facts. Kiwi troops served in Iraq for seven years alongside Australian soldiers. As for its criminality that is still up for debate. Just because the UN says it was it not enough evidence. Was it a mistake? Probably, I think so but an argument can be made it wasn't.

@Luum81 From his previous comments that I have read we are very similar in our political and social views, this time however we differ, but so what, he is wrong and I am right.

FFS it is just an administrative detail. It will still be a public holiday and dawn services will still happen.

@Pfizersrecordfineforfraud ANZAC day for me is a very personal thing. It will always be observed by myself. It's dimwitted RWNJs snowflakes that have turned it into something political or worse, some sort of cultural warfare thing. It has been politised by all sides of politics left, centre, and right in the past. Fuck off all of you grubs and let me remember my grandfathers who fought in WWI and WWII and the mates I served with and lost at a dawn service.

@jamesmorrow1646 I’ll wait till an Australian soldier is convicted of war crimes before I’d make that claim. I had a beer with a WWII veteran years ago (about 20) we had served in the same battalion but 60 years apart. He openly admitted he had killed unarmed surrendering Japs at Milne Bay after he had found some of his dead mates who had clearly been cannibalised. It was a very sad conversation, but was he a war criminal? The Taliban strapped nail bombs to intellectually disabled girls and then sent them into markets full of women and children to be remotely detonated. That’s a crime.
