The French offered us Nuc boats 5 years ago, the same bunch of numptys sitting around the table now chose not to go with nuc and insisted on desiel/electric then and have changed there mind and gone with nucs now. The refuelling issue is a rubbish side issue used by the current government in an attempt to hide the way they have massively stuffed this entire process up. A 2009 defence white paper identified the need for expanded submarine capability and the Chinese threat. The navy has always maintained a Nuc boat was preferable. Just one massive clusterfuck from the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison governments that has seriously undermined the security of this country.
