Every LCOE and LCOS study I have read says the exact opposite. There very well maybe room for nuclear energy but it won’t be cheap.

@coal_man Nope, the Lazard report has wind significantly cheaper on an unsubsidised analysis than both coal and nuclear.

@coal_man Nuclear energy is subsidised by governments in all markets to make it competitive with gas and coal.

@coal_man Nope. Storage costs included, still cheaper than coal and nuclear so cheap that extra capacity is easily affordable. Not that is what I'm suggesting only that Wind is significantly cleaner than fossil fuels which we need to eliminate and nuclear can pick up the slack.

@coal_man Yes nuclear requires a great deal of regulation and this is what adds significant costs. It is what is required to maintain Nuclears excellent safety record and prevent weapon proliferation, this is what Levelised Cost of Electricity means.
1
@coal_man No I understand that. At the same time arguing coal is cheaper to produce electricity and then crowing about the high price of coal. Just nonsense after rubbish after ill conceived logic, and we will leave it there.

@coal_man And pithy vacuous comments are exactly that.

@coal_man Coal powers approximately 60% of Australia, it was virtually 100% 40 years ago. Even you can understand a graph and work out the long term trend. Coal powered the Industrial revolution why would I be sour about it.
