@Innocent Bystander Well for a couple of good reasons. To achieve a successful attack on Taiwan China would first have to neutralise the US Navy in the Western Pacific. To do that with any hope of success would require a first strike and that is effectively declaring war on the US. Do you really think China would risk that? Next Tiawan has only about 4 or 5 suitable locations to mount a amphibious operation and all are heavily defended. Next China currently doesn't have the amphibious or airborne capability that is required to overwhelm Tiawan. Now if China put absolutely all their resources into it then maybe but that would require the rest of the world to stand back and do nothing, but would China gamble on that happening. I understand Moylan is an ex general but there are some real world considerations that in my opinion make the chances or war over Tiawan extremely unlikely

@Chorlton Wheelies The manner in which the two different governments US and China dealt with the virus is why the morbidity rates varied, but I agree there is nothing clever about laughing at the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people or is there anything clever about claiming you are building 100 ships a month when currently they have about 9 under construction. There is the imagination of a Chinese minister and then there is the real world.
