To what aim?

@MrBikeman7 Do you really think the Chinese would start WWIII by turning Australia into glass to gain a small amount of territory. You have to be a little bit realistic here.
1
@MrBikeman7 we certainly agree there and don't get me wrong I don't trust the Chinese any further than I could throw them. Australia's defence against China and Russia is its allies around the world, the US, UK, Japan, India and the rest of the western democracies.

Tell me how many aircraft do you think have the range to bomb any meaningful target in Australia from China. Also name the type of aircraft and it’s payload.

@supercoffeemug1921 The H6 has an effective combat range of only 1800 km, yes they can refuel and the Chinese have that capacity but they would have to do it several times and be quite vulnerable. However you seem to think our air defences would give them a free pass. You seem to think a long range bombing mission of the type you talk about is a common everyday job. You have no idea how complex it is and give the Chinese way to much credit. Yes if they attack us with nuc tipped ICBM well all bets are off as we are in the middle of WWIII.

@supercoffeemug1921 Do you have any idea how much of a complex task would be required for the Chinese navy to position and attempt to secure a force close enough to mainland Australia to enable an effective strike from its maritime aircraft. I think you have seen one action movie to many.

@supercoffeemug1921 You don't seem to have much of a grasp of history. In WWII the Japanese attempted exactly what you are suggesting and failed miserably. They failed utterly and completely I can't emphasise how badly they failed. They were humiliated. Let the Chinese try.

@supercoffeemug1921 Chinese allies, that’s hilarious. Syria, Iran, maybe Russia on a good day. That your funniest line yet.

@supercoffeemug1921 All you are doing is reading the data sheet of Chinese military weapons, without taking into account a single real world geo political consideration or the complexity involved with invading a country 7000 km away. Your argument is nonsensical.

@supercoffeemug1921 Thankyou for your service. I worked with the Marines in Darwin a few years ago. A very professional military force. I was very impressed with the officers and SNCOs. I spent 35 years in the military and have a deep understanding of the logistical requirements of warfare. I am not suggesting even remotely that Australia is a match for China military only that to consider a Chinese invasion or an attempt by their navy to isolate Australia in isolation from other real world geo political events that would require them to attempt such a thing is not realistic. The Japs couldn't do it and the Chinese would not be successful either.

On another point. The Chinese navy is hugely overrated. Yes they are expanding however they are not expanding thier maintenance facilities at a corresponding rate. Thier navy is in for a real hurt when it comes to upgrading and repair in the future. Also half the 400 strong fleet are littoral craft and virtually unprotected. You could sink half their fleet with a .50 cal and some AP ammo.

@supercoffeemug1921 Don't get me wrong I don't trust the Chinese any further than I could throw them. Australias defence relies on our alliances with the US, UK, France, Japan, Germany, India and all of the Western democracies.
