You have no understanding of the 1st amendment of the US constitution and Trump was not censored if you had any understanding of how youtude works is just a private platform it can do whatever it likes that's its freedom. If you don't like it use another platform
10
They were suspended for uploading content that was false and a danger to people. Welcome back to misinformation central indeed.
4
Don't like what YouTube does don't use it.
3
Yep leave youtube forever
3
I sat in on that meeting and yes we all agreed Jones, Smith, Murray, Bolt, all had to go, but some idiot from Paul Fletchers Department stood up and got half way through a speech on our right to free speech and then realised oh we don't have that under our constitution and then some numbnuts suggested why don't we just get Skynews to abide to the terms and conditions of youtube. Problem solved we all logged off our zoom conference and went back to the garden.
2
Here is an idea present fact based news content instead of unsubstantiated ill informed opinions.
2
@HealthyDisrespectforAuthority Either you agree to youtubes conditions of use and use it or go somewhere else it is called the free market, and I have sat in on those conferences in Utah and your right we are trying to silence you, doesn't seem to be working though.
2
@johnlee3899 Yes another failed Trump enterprise along with Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines, Trump University, Trump Casinos, and whatever football team he owned all total failures. If you don't like YouTube don't use it.
2
YouTube is a private platform if you don't like it don't use it. This has nothing to do with freedom. Use another platform or start your own.
2
Yep making money.
2
Because there is a better audience for the bizarre, unemployed, low educated, straight family on YouTube.
1
@dannilsson9461 Way too many wild conspiracy theories to deal with there.
1
@bobby-ov9qn Not my problem. Agree to youtubes conditions and use it or go somewhere is it is called the free market. I can't do your shopping for you.
1
@thomasjackson7785 Alan Jones is a fabulous communicator, has a teaching degree and was a fine rugby coach, however his career in broadcasting has been chequered to say the least, from numerous on air apologies for uttered falsehoods to payouts in court for defamation to paid for comment convictions the list goes on. Don't get me wrong he his hugely popular and successful at ratings but he targets a low information demographic and appeals to their prejudices. He is incredibly clever at it as it has made him a fortune.
1
@smelb84 Read the conditions of service youtube can remove, demonetise or basically do whatever they like it is theirs the own it. These comments are in a public forum but if youtube don't like what I write they can remove it in a second and I accept that because I understand something you seem be in la la land about.
1
@eq1373 Yes your right I have sat in on those meetings and your right the government and youtube are consipiring to silence misinformation on sky news from endangering the public. I said wait on shouldn't we let skynews say what it wants and then all their viewers will die from Covid and then there would be no problem, but some bum said no we have a duty to keep people safe despite their own stupidity.
1
@deeultramaga62 What are you talking about they are a privately owned public company that allows content on their platform under their terms of conditions. We don't even have a right to free speech in Australia. Either you agree to youtubes terms and conditions or find another platform as is your right in a free market, what is hard to understand about this?
1
@deeultramaga62 And section 230 is US legislation and is not limitless they are still required to remove illegal material, hate speech, sex trafficking etc etc. I would think telling something that will get them killed qualifies. How about you go back and read the legislation in full before replying with little to no knowledge of what your talking about.
1
@catherinesyme901 Yes YouTube is a privately owned public company and if you do not abide by their terms and conditions then they can remove your content, this is just normal free market business practice, if you don't like it find another platform. No right to free speech in Oz.
1
@jemmastone11 Please point out any errors. Happy to be fact checked
1
@commonsense3890 Happy to be fact checked on any errors.
1
@deeultramaga62 Only they do. Skynews uploaded content that was unsubstantiated opinion based on lies and dangerous to the public and free speech in the US allows businesses the same right. I can't believe I as an Australian I know more about your constitution than you do.
1
@charlenefrench5404 Why because I understand the terms and conditions I use youtube under. Facts before feeling here.
1
@deryk2002au And you have a misunderstanding of US law which is not absolute or limitless in its protections . There is a list of items hate speech being one of them that it is not except from. Granted in the US business have to abide by the law regarding discrimination etc, however they are still free to do with their business essentially want they want and if under their terms and conditions they don't want your business then they have the right not to offer it. Generally speaking this is a platform for simpletons you were right about that.
1
@ActivateMission2ThisTimeline Which as a business they have a perfect right to do. If you don't like the product why are you here?
1
@julieibach7733 Noboby is being censored if a privately owned platform removes content it deems wrong. What is staggering is an Americans own understanding of the 1st amendment which relates to laws passed by government not the terms and conditions of a private business. You have embarrassed yourself publicly and as for myself Biden Harris or my family if any of them are stupid enough to put content on YouTube that is deemed dangerous or illegal then absolutely I have no problem with it being removed.
1
@charlenefrench5404 I'm not sure you understand what freedom is
1
@zedthehun Nope. You have been sucked in by the marketing. It might claim to be a public square but it owns the public square and has every right to put whatever terms and conditions it wants on that public square, that as it turns out is privately owned. In a free market either like buy the product and use it like you are doing now or stop your whining and go and find another product. See ya
1
@roguestatus7 That is a ridiculous comment, who are they? I understand perfectly the terms and conditions of using this platform. I am not off in some fantasy conspiracy world where you appear to be.
1
@roguestatus7 If you don't like the terms and conditions of a business shop somewhere else. You misunderstand free speech and censorship. YouTube is a private business not the government. YouTube can delete and censor whatever it likes under its right to free speech.
1
@Channeler324 Yes your right you got me I have sat in on those meetings and all we are doing is working on ways to censor crazy wild conspiracy theories
1
@Channeler324 Section 230 is not absolute or limitless and allows the platform to remove content and censor comments.
1
@mrjiddylewis5375 Let's just get the data straight. Alan Jones show on Sky has an average nightly viewership of approx 70000 and Skynews daily viewing is approx 300000. Your claim of millions is absurd and apart from making that up in your head I have no idea where it came from. SkyNews has over a million subscribers on YouTube and has millions of views on some of its content, however a significant proportion of its subscribers are US based as Sky has made a clear choice to attract that market with its content. It has around 1.2 billion views on YouTube however so has baby shark dance. Skynews also has millions of interactions on Facebook. Maybe this was what you were referring to in your reply, if so you should have made it a little clearer. If there was something I said about Alan that was untrue I am happy for you to correct me. As for your sorrowful attempt at personal abuse, that was just embarrassing for you. Facts before feelings.
1
@charlenefrench5404 I understand exactly what freedom is and have tried now a couple of times to extract from you more than a half finished sentence. What problem am I part of?
1
@clarabell3023 I have no argument with your point, I totally agree. US law however does not effect the rest of the world and anyone is able to join the market and sell their product.
1
Yep the sooner they leave the sooner the rest of us won't have to put up with their inane commentary.
1
And if you don't like it don't use it. Find another platform, better still start one of your own, but stop your whining.
1
@andrewbishop869 I tend to agree with you, and I have no problem with that. I will work under whatever the current legislation says, and at the moment youtube as a business has the right to do with its business what it wants that is its freedom of speech.
1
@andrewbishop869 I totally agree people think it is a public square but it isn't it is a privately owned square and as such no free speech rights exist under the US constitution. Case closed.
1
@scarseven7855 You do understand youtube is a privately owned platform and if you're suggesting that the Australian government or any government for that matter tells youtube what items to censure other than that content which by law they can't show ie graphic violence, hate speech sexual violence then you are are going to have to provide some evidence of that. YouTube remove content from their platform regularly that's their right they own it.
1
@scarseven7855 Do you think youtube is the government?
1
@robertaus8420 So images of graphic voilence no problems? women being raped, children being beheaded? Just if you find it offensive don't watch. How would you feel about your close family members in intimate situations being filmed and uploaded to YouTube are you OK with that.
1
@robertaus8420 Lol, my small jar of harden up pills is on hand just next to the first aid box in the pantry. I was a soldier for 35 years so evil $&#£ is not nothing new to me, you are absolutely right there is bad stuff out there if you look for it. There is little if anything I find personally offensive, however my point is youtube is privately owned and as such have a right to remove or allow what content is on their platform. You may think it is a public space and YouTube might market themselves that way, but the reality is it isn't it is a money making enterprise.
1
@robertaus8420 No doubt, and Youtube can do with their platform what they like they own it. If you are unhappy with their product use the free market system and go somewhere else, start up your own streaming service, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination. I am interested though apart from making money what exactly is youtubes narrative?
1
Then why are you using them? Use the free market and leave.
1
Except it is not censorship for a business to enforce its terms and conditions thus rendering your quote nonsensical.
1
@markgriff9053 In what fantasy world do you live in where you think a business has an obligation to be unbiased? Is the dairy producer making butter obligated to make margarine so it is unbiased. Do you hear the absolute absurdity of your argument?
1
@markgriff9053 I understand you were annoyed when you realised how stupid your comment was and that you were unable to refute my argument with only some vague reference not knowing what is going on. Then you went off on a rant about vaccines and fact checking, I thought we were discussing the rights of business to conduct their business freely in an open marketplace. I am not even mildly concerned about your insults but I am concerned about your inability to argue in a cognitive sensible manner. Try again with some facts.
1
@markgriff9053 You may not think it is right but that is the law. Is your solution to allow complete unfettered content on youtube? You would be happy with graphic images of American farmers being beheaded by terrorists on the streets of Springfield Missouri? When you talk of truth, you only mean your truth not the actual truth and in your system who is going to decide the truth? I would suggest to you video imagery of the Jan 6 riot and alleged insurrection was removed from platforms because it was graphic in nature and if as you allege the originals of these videos exists they will be produced in court for either the defence or the prosecution or as evidence in the numerous criminal cases going through the courts and the other numerous investigations that are taking place and or are are to be concluded. It is not up to you to decide guilt or innocence that is the criminal justice system job. I almost always dismiss conspiracy theories as yours as I find they always have a much more rational explanation, generally complete and total incompetence. I mean really a cabal of people censoring the media, not to suggest that censorship isn't taking place it certainly is. I don't deny significant elements of the MSM in the US were anti-Trump however there were MSM elements like Fox and Newsmax that were wholly biased in favour of Trump. This clueless sheep line is a little tired though. Enjoying a few drinks or lots of drinks is always fun and I had a couple of beers last night as well so your not entirely lost.
1
@markgriff9053 So in summary you completely agree a private business in the US is allowed to conduct its business as its sees fit under its rights of freedom granted by the constitution. So realising this you then mount what is called a Gish Gallop argument interspersed with personal insults. I never insulted you I remained respectful I did call your argument foolish but you are unable to understand that difference. Of course if all of what you said was even remotely true you would be able to present this so called evidence to Republican authorities who would then start prosecutions, but you won't as it doesn't really exist. For example how exactly did you determine busloads of Antifa were allowed through by police was there a sign on the side of the bus saying we are from Antifa. Presidents both Democratic and Republican at the end of their terms routinely give Presidential pardons and it is their right under the constitution. Trump pardoned numerous people who he was involved with who had been convicted for various crimes. Are you going to allege that Trump has led a cabal of Republicans in a conspiracy to let all his friends out of prison of course not and this is what eats at the heart of the decline of the US, it has become so stupidly parochial. President Clinton has some serious personal failings however the country flourished economically over his eight years. President Bush made some very poor foreign policy decisions, but always tried his utmost to make America a safer place. I know your response to this will be President Trump has not done a single thing wrong and is the greatest president ever and he didn't lose the election, all totally one sided and utterly biased. Don't bother replying as my initial point was factually correct and I'm really not interested in engaging with someone who does not discuss in good faith and continuely resorts to personal abuse and disingenuous passes it of as banter.
1
@markgriff9053 "Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance"
1
@markgriff9053 The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.
1
@DivinaeMisericordiae77 just indulge me, what is "the narrative"?
1
@PublicUnindoctrinator Classic wild conspiracy theory there. I assume the truth is your truth, and any moral wrongs are your particular morals being wronged, and the general rule of thumb I use when discussing a subject is the first person to yell nazi has got nothing, and yep you got nothing, zero, zack, nil.
1
If you don't like the platform don't use it. You have a complete misunderstanding of censorship.
1
@hubristicmystic Your own comment comparing YouTube to the Nazi regime of the 30s and 40s ironically shows how you fundamentally misunderstand what is a public space, censorship, and facism. YouTube is a private platform, not connected to government. Now if you can prove to me with evidence that youtube is taking instructions and answering to the government of Australia or China or any other country for that matter then your comment may have some value.
