The term “carbon footprint” was invented by BP and it’s PR company in the mid 90s to specifically take the responsibility of carbon pollution away from the fossil fuel companies and onto the individual. You and Annie have fallen for it hook line and sinker, how embarrassing to know you are doing the bidding of multinational corporations.

Not only that but from the late 70s up to 2000 ExxonMobil own internal scientists had advised the company that burning its products was warming the planet and yet the company publicly said the opposite and spent millions on PR companies to cast doubt on Anthropogenic climate change and you and Annie got sucked in entirely. @davegoldspink5354 Just a couple of points there. No climate scientist has ever claimed the sky is falling down. Thousands of published peer reviewed scientific papers prove Anthropogenic climate change beyond all reasonable doubt. Newspapers and instagram are not reliable sources of science fact. The level of CO2 in our atmosphere has changed multiple times over the last million years that is not the issue. Volcanic activity no doubt contributes CO2 but again that is not the issue. Burning fossil fuels is the issue.

@grannyannie2948 James Delingpole by his own public admission has despite commenting on climate science never read any of the scientific literature on anthropogenic climate change. I have no understanding why reading his book would provide anything more than confirmation bias. He has on numerous occasions been caught in his journalism lieing.

@davegoldspink5354 Yes and once again no scientist has ever in a published peer reviewed scientific paper has used that term. Yes some of the political rhetoric around anthropogenic climate change has been extreme by both sides, however never the scientific community. If it has then cite or reference the scientific paper that did. There is no such thing as clean energy and your attempt at a strawman argument is just that a logical fallacy. Of course energy production consumes resources, however multiple LCOE studies have proven green energy renewables are significantly cleaner and cheaper. Fossil fuels will be part of the energy mix for some years but eventually will be phased out as green energy is used to produce green energy infrastructure. As evidenced by energy transition production in South Australia.

So you spent half your rant saying nothing that isn't already known. You used a strawman argument in initially that wasa logical fallacy and a nonsensical statement. The latest LAZARDs LCOE study completely disproves your entire statement about the cost of energy. As futher evidence read "Comparative environmental life cycle assessment of conventional and electric vehicles" Hawkins et al. Journal of Industrial Ecology, 2013. You are just factually and demonstratively wrong on the cost of producing energy. Finally you completely confuse the cost of producing energy with the market forces applied to the price of fossil fuels including the transition to renewables and the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war. You finish with a flurry of unsubstantiated emotive childish remarks not worth commenting on. In summary I have provided independent evidence to prove my statement, you have provided personal opinion that is an anecdotal fallacious rubbish.

@davegoldspink5354 I explained in detail in my previous reply why your argument isn't legitimate, it is merely uninformed opinion. I cited two independent references not my opinion. My opinion is irrelevant as is yours it it what is true and can be proven with data and evidence. Continuing emotional rants proves nothing. The major reason why the EU has seen significant energy price increases is they bet big on cheap Russian gas as a transitional fuel from coal to renewables and that went pear shaped with the sanctions on Russia due to the war with Ukraine. You are confusing the mistakes made in transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables with the considerable savings renewables will provide as evidenced by every LCOE study I have read. You are demonstrably wrong.

@davegoldspink5354 You are factually incorrect the percentage of renewables entering the energy markets is continuing to grow not decrease and its production costs continue to get cheaper. It is fossil fuels that have significantly increased in cost. Again to prove this I cite the latest study by LAZARDs which clearly demonstrates this. There has been no shortfall in renewable energy, there has in fact been a shortage in fossil fuel supply. You are factually wrong. I cite Forbes financial adviser and there advice being the shortage of supply caused by Covid and then the war in Ukraine. In fact up until covid and the war in Ukraine fossil fuel prices had generally been increasing and decreasing on a 5 year cycle as any rudimentary reading of graph over 25 years of crude oil prices show. Again you are demonstrably wrong. I have deleted nothing and I can't see any of your replies either but I didn't assume any personal slurs on your conduct I just thought there was glitch or you were being shadow banned for some reason. Of course all you can manage is some immature childish name calling. So intellectually cowardly it is beneath contempt.

I didn't accuse you of deleting anything, all I said was I could not see your posts either in obviously the same way you don't seem to be able to see mine. So your fallacious strawman argument fails again. I have not deleted any of my comments. So once again aside from your continued childish rants and attempted personal slurs you have presented nothing again of any substance, just mindless opinion. The only state owned coal power is in Queensland and is still operating. No state government has closed a coal plant in recent years they are privately owned. The individual owner may have ceased operating them because they were to expensive to maintain. You are just factually wrong again. Exporting gas has been a massive financial gain for Australia in export dollars and infrastructure build creating thousands of jobs. Exporting gas has contributed to our increased wealth, you are factually wrong again. Mining revenues in Australia have tripled over the last ten years, you are factually wrong again. Agriculture exports were 15% of GDP last year and along with mining account for almost a 25% of our exports, you are factually wrong again. Over the last 50 years the percentage of our farming exports has dropped a little, but this is only because we are exporting more of other items like mining education, and health so on that point you are correct. Aside from the recession caused by covid the Australian economy has bounced back nicely as is currently 2.2% annually, you are factually wrong again. Recently we had a free and fair federal election and state elections without violence or fraud. Western democracy is safe and sound here in Australia. Thankfully, you are factually wrong again. Nice try but apart from your minor point on Agriculture where despite our exports massive growth as a proportion of exports total it has reduced a bit, there wasn't any other thing you got remotely correct. Have another go and do some research this time.
