@grannyannie2948 That’s your argument an anecdotal fallacy???

@grannyannie2948 I'm not denying inflation hasn't been higher than usual, but you are cherry picking data and that is fallacious. I will use ABS data which is taken from all states and cities over your local supermarket/grocer.
1
@grannyannie2948 Yep as suspected you are factually and demonstratively wrong. Check the ABS data, the average gain in food prices for the entire country annually is currently 8% down from 9.2% in the last quarter. Your number is wrong

@grannyannie2948 Not sure what you mean, but as previously explained I’m not doubting at all your personal experience it is real for you, but as an argument it is nonsensical as it is by definition an anecdotal fallacy. There is no doubt inflation is to high, everyone accepts this, but your number of 20% is just factually wrong it is less than half of that. I don’t understand why you persist in quoting a figure you know is wrong and has been demonstrated to be wrong.

@oldbloke204 happy to be fact checked here, but wasn’t the June and September quarters of 2020 both negative?
1
@oldbloke204 Oops got it wrong it was the March and June Quarters of 2020 that were both negative. So that was our last recession, under the Morrison LNP government.
1
@oldbloke204 Well I’m sorry but it is as equally absurd to suggest the recession we had in the early nineties was caused by anything other than the 1987 stock market crash. All I did was fact-check your error, I in no way implied the Morrison government was at fault, in fact it did pretty much everything it could to minimise the pandemic effect. You need to be more balanced.
1
@oldbloke204 The ABS data for the June quarter will determine that.

@oldbloke204 I'm no economist and make no predictions on current or future trends. My understanding from economists is there is no imminent forecast of a recession. The predicted growth in our economy in the next year is approximately 2.75%
