A free market is one of the core principles of capitalism and Tariffs are in direct opposition to this characteristic. Free markets between countries enables efficient production and cheaper prices for goods. Tariffs are not pro America they are senseless anti competitive constraints on free market capitalism.

@ I have no issues with tariffs, but in a clever and targeted manner in relation to a specific issue. A general all encompassing tariff is just anti competitive and economically stupid. All it is, is a tax on the American people.

@ Canada has a weighted mean average 2.35% tariff on all imports from every country. It eliminated most tariffs on US products after NAFTA negotiations. The US is perfectly entitled to place tariffs on and for whatever amount it chooses, it’s just economically stupid.

@SamyYoung-sq6hm A ludicrously stupid comment. I'm a big fan and particularly of the ability a free market allows efficient production using specialisation. This free market is especially efficient when spread over national borders. Trumpomics isn't good for anyone.
