Ministers are not expected to have or need to have explicit knowledge of their portfolios. Generally speaking we attempt to have the AG have some legal experience, but it is not essential. I dare you to nominate exactly how many of our defence ministers in the last 50 years have had military experience. That’s why we have public servants. Your argument is nonsensical.
