  1. An increase in the GST to 12.5% and then another 2.5% in 5 years time with a corresponding income tax relief for low income earners would be in line with the Henry tax review.

  2.  @dontbeasheeple5883  I personally don't need a tax break but those on low incomes would, as a GST is a regressive tax. It is fairly obvious that our spending both Nationally and at household level is a concern. At a Federal level both sides have expanded there spending, particularly the LNP as they threw away 40 years of neoliberal economics and spent like drunken sailors during the pandemic. Just expressing the view that we reduce spending is vacuous, neither side of politics in reality has shown any ability to do this. Revenue needs to increase and this can be done with clever and well targeted tax increases.
