Again with the deliberate obfuscation. The Uluṟu statement was co-signed by 250 elders from every region in Australia. You are being wilfully ignorant.

@positivepawpaw7564 Do you really what me to embarrass you with a detailed history of Aboriginal attempts at reconciliation and constitutional recognition going back to 1936.

@yourlocaldolphin It is just truely shameful the level of ignorance. I was reading the legal opinion from a couple of constitutional lawyers and both of them just rubbished claims the voice has any veto power. It was specifically designed by the indigenous committee that put the Uluru statement together to explicitly avoid this attempted argument by deliberately wording the statement to say voice only. I have no idea what opponents of a voice are so terrified of.

@yourlocaldolphin fair cop

Political representation is not the same as constitutional recognition.

@positivepawpaw7564 Not sure why you are yelling. The Aboriginal population was specifically and explicitly not mentioned in the constitution. They were made non citizens and denied any voting rights in the referendum and subsequent Federation. White Anglos were well represented. Go have a look at the make-up of our first Parliament.

You completely misunderstand constitutional recognition and are confusing it with political representation. They are not the same. Nobody is suggesting indigenous peoples don’t have political representation. You seem to lack knowledge of the subject.
