That would make sense if it had. 80% of our power is fossil fueled and that what is failing. The 20% of renewables is doing just fine.

@BrianBellia It is beyond commonsense that you attempted to compare the Texas blackouts to the current circumstances on the East Coast of Australia, to the point of ludicrous opinion.

@BrianBellia Your data is completely wrong. Multiple reports about the Texas blackouts show it was the nuclear, coal, and gas plants that despite previous warnings had failed to winterise their plant infrastructure. It was not lack of maintenance. As well as Texas being it’s own grid and not interconnected to the national system meant they were unable to draw power from outside of Texas. Interestingly renewables provided more electricity into the system during the blackout than the regulator expected. Nothing could have compensated for the catastrophic failure of fossil fuels.

@dknowles60 No you are wrong. Texas has excess generation capacity as long as all its systems are working. Coal, gas, and nuclear all failed. Wind and solar actually provided power they were not expected to. Read the numerous current and historical reports.
