@LieborSucksArse That is a false claim. The market price is set by gas being the most expensive and the price of gas skyrocketed after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Could you please reference the data that proves China is building 200 coal plants? Chinese coal plants are subsidised by the government and are currently running at a financial loss. Most coal plants are running at around 50% capacity as a result of capacity being a priority of economic development.

@FortressMaximus_mfd Can you advise us all where in the world a Thorium reactor is providing electricity to a grid. Thanks.

Already done, numerous times. There are dozens of LCOE studies publicly available. LAZARDs, CSIRO Gencost are two examples.

20 to 30 cents per watt.

@awc900 And the data source for this claim is?
1
@awc900 Right so you just made it up. No problems I understand.
1
@awc900 I never suggested that, all infrastructure construction involves a cost. I merely asked the data source for your claim of $685 billion and you answered by telling me you made it up in your head. That's all I needed to know.
1
@LieborSucksArse There is no data that supports this claim

@LiLJRAE-np4dn Red Energy, OVO Energy, AGL, Ergon Retail, Energex, and there are at least another 8 or 9 retail Energy providers in QLD.
1
Not renewables fault. The price of gas skyrocketed due to Russian gas embargos, due to the war against Ukraine.

Could you please reference the data that supports your claim. Thanks.

@Berserker978 actually the Labor government sells zero coal to anyone. Whitehaven, BHP, and several other coal producers do. The Labor party own zero interests in coal production. Individual labour members probably own shares in coal production through their super funds or investments but that is it. Do you understand how the Australian economy works? It is based on a free enterprise market system. All the state owned coal mines have been sold to private enterprises.
1
Could you please reference the data or nuclear plant that has lasted 80 years. Thanks.
1
Actually your claim about the Texas winter storm is completely false. The Market operator never expected any power from solar during that storm and wind power actually provided more electricity to the grid than was expected. What did freeze solid and provided no electricity were several gas plants a a nuclear reactor. Get your facts straight.

Who funds the proponents of fossil fuels and nuclear?
1
@Skeptical59 Factually incorrect. While fuel excise certainly contributes to the price of fuel the main contributing factor is the price of oil and gas on the international market. The exchange rate of our dollar is also a factor. While the government can attempt to influence these things the Aussie dollar is on a floating exchange rate and there is little Australia can do to influence the war in Ukraine.
1
And your qualifications to offer an opinion are?
1
Could you please reference the data that supports your claim. Thanks. Otherwise it is just a unsubstantiated claim, as both LAZARDs and CSIROs LCOE studies have solar and wind significantly cheaper than nuclear.

@footbru Yes, I call him the "dot". I run into him every now and then. He is an absolute RWNJ, and of course as it is plain to see I'm just a normal perfectly balanced well adjusted all round nice person.

Anthropogenic climate is reversible. When we discovered chlorofluorocarbons were damaging the Ozone layer, we negotiated the Montreal agreement and banned chlorofluorocarbons. The Ozone layer damage caused is being repaired.
