@youtuber1650 No. in Australia the Liberal party evolved from the conservative UAP party in the late 1930s. It has been traditionally a conservative centre right party with certain policies both political and social that a progressive liberal would not necessarily agree with.

@sammyo2583 There wasn’t a portfolio she didn’t mention, and a cost saving doesn’t necessarily mean a cut to defence spending. Remember the Libs blew $4billion on a failed submarine project.

@youtuber1650 Cyber Smuggla's simple equation is highly misleading Labor in Australia being one of the oldest democratic political parties has its foundations deep in the union movement and is much further to the left than the Democrats. The Liberal party in Australia is nowhere near as reactionary or as conservative as the Republican party. It is highly misleading to attempt to equate them.

@Father and grandfather Thankyou for being such an avid reader. Albos remarks need to be taken in context in that all a government can do is put a submission to the Productivity commission and any reasonable person would know this is the system we work under. Also it was clarified that it was the minimum wage case he was talking about, but once again facts don’t seem to matter to you as you appear to be only engaged in strawman argument and personal slurs, and we will leave it at that.

@peterjones4180 We know now that to be a falsehood. The last offical government communications declared all was good with the contract, yes there had been disagreement and some difficulties as it was a major project. Next the French offered us the Suffren class and we knocked it back. Went with the Attack class and then dumped it for a more capable SSN that still remains undetermined. And you blame Hawke, not Fraser or Whitlam or McMahon or Gorton, or Holt or Menzies, any of whom could have decided to get SSN. I mean really!

@peterjones4180 I didn't say they had, I even implied that in my comment, I never suggested things were perfect, so don't try a create a strawman. Any government can repeal legislation which the Howard/Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison never bothered to do. That's almost 20 years of conservative governments and you blame the Hawke government. There was 20 years of conservative government before that to purchase SSNs and they did nothing, but lets blame the Hawke government. The Suffren would always have been refuelled in France, so not an issue anyway.

@peterjones4180 On a side issue the ARH Tiger and MRH 90 are both excellent airframes however logistical issues with the ARH and design limitations with the MRH which were not the fault of the French and more to do with our own poor procurement procedures have brought forward their replacement.
