EDF the wholly owned nuclear energy corporation in France is €50 billion in debt because the French government subsidises the cost of electricity . Don’t believe me research it yourself. The cost of electricity in France is not the lowest in the world, that claim is demonstrably factually incorrect. Swedens electricity is half the cost of France.

@totalsceptic As long as you allow me to include the $billions in government subsidies to the fossil fuel industry.

@tagiscom Tim Flannery never addressed the UN. He does however have a long history of advocacy for the environment and has held various positions on the Climate Council. He is often misquoted by the RIght wing media in an attempt to strawman anthropogenic climate change.
2
They already do. The AEMO has acknowledged this in numerous public statements as the cost of fossil fuels increased substantially after the Ukraine war, what keep the increases to a minimum was the much cheaper cost of renewable energy.
2
@totalsceptic Correct, because no one can guarantee anything in the future and to claim otherwise would be stupid. When did I choose not to listen or accept the advice from the AEMO?
2
@dfor50 This is a result of market volatility, not the cost wind and solar can produce electricity at.
2
@polarbear7255 Jeez, that's a lot of emjois and emotional language there. Unlike the exponential growth in fossil fuels and nuclear power the cost of solar infrastructure has continued to fall dramatically while wind infrastructure has only increased 3%. I know it's hard for you to understand the electricity market in Australia as it is complicated. Best you go and have a read of the literature available on the subject.

@tagiscom The Greeks worked out 2500 years ago the earth was a sphere.

@tagiscom I'm not aware of Tim Flannery ever addressing the UN. However he has a long history of advocacy for anthropogenic climate change and care of the environment. So what? You would have to reference the data or scientific literature for your claim the world was freezing in the 70s. Yes there was a Times article and some media publications at that time, but surely you aren't going to rely on a news report as factual reliable scientific data. That would be absurd, as would to take the word of a single individual on anything. You seemed a little mixed up.
1
@tagiscom There is no scientific data that exists the world was freezing in the 70s. You are referring to a "Times" magazine article. That's not evidence of anything other than your gullibility.

Your statement flies in direct opposition to the overwhelming amount of scientific research and data.
1
@dfor50 Yes we did I remember numerous blackouts and power failures in Sydney back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Coal plants broke down all the time. Burning fossils fuels is affecting our atmosphere. This is not my opinion it is the overwhelming scientific data.
