  1.  @devonsteve2347  No existing SMR has ever provided a single kilowatt into any power grid. The PWR technology used in submarines is secret and will never be shared with the commercial world and as well are hugely expensive and require extensive maintenance. Have you seen the price for a Virginia class SSN?

  2.  @devonsteve2347  So all attempts to commercialise SMRs have so far failed. PWR obviously work well but average 8 years to construct, add on the time to gain approval. In Australia that means significant legislation change and the creation of a regulatory body. The cost of that is exorbitant. I have no issues with the safety or reliability of nuclear power, but it will never be cheap and it won’t be able to compete against renewables. Unfortunately you need to deal with reality. LCOE studies show 90% reliable renewables are still significantly cheaper than large scale PWR.
