It is simple indigenous Australians never ceded sovereignty to the British government or any of its colonial governments. There was no mention of a treaty in our constitution. Hence some indigenous Australians are calling to a treaty so sovereignty can be sorted out. This process has been successfully done in the US, Canada, and NZ. It is a complex legal concept, however Australian government sovereignty and indigenous sovereignty can coexist with each other.

@The_Resistance_1961 Factually incorrect and while I don’t use the word war and perfer the term insurgency it is well documented in our history and will form part of the new expanded displays at the AWM. Next factually incorrect claim. You don’t need a war. Settler colonies can treatise with indigenous groups. You need to read up more on sovereignty and international law.
