@samopalvampirenvonbutlegin8603 Yeah right.

@bobthebomb1596 So which is it. They can't remove U233 from a thorium reactor or than can. Do nuclear reactors require strict regulations or not? You seem totally confused. All you have done is agree with me and emphasise my point. Thanks.

Read Lazards latest LCOE study.

@samopalvampirenvonbutlegin8603 During Trumps presidency coal power was reduced and renewable energy expanded at a greater rate than under Democrats, what are you even talking about?
1
@samopalvampirenvonbutlegin8603 Yeah for sure we could use taxpayers money and reduce to cost of oil to $0 barrel, but that's not how a free market economy works.
1
@samopalvampirenvonbutlegin8603 well I'm certainly with you there. I want no part of China here.

SMRs potentially could very well be the answer, they are however not a mature or reliable source of power yet. Also the safety and regulation costs will not make them cheap. Weapon proliferation is a real and serious concern.
1
@DgurlSunshine I have no idea what that means?

@bobthebomb1596 what don’t you understand about how U233 can be spun off a thorium reactor. It is not the easiest way to get it but U233 bombs have been tested and work.
1
@bobthebomb1596 That's not what I said. I said the the increase use of SMRs potentially could lead to weapon proliferation which clearly it would. Who said anything about nations? Individual reactor owners could act inscrutably without significant regulation and safety measures. Which add to cost. There was nothing at all unreasonable in my original comment.
1
So as I originally said SMRs can be used to make material for bombs, its not easy but can be done. Regulation is required to prevent or minimise this risk and that regulation adds significantly to the cost. Thankyou for agreeing with me and why did you bother commenting in the first place?

@bobthebomb1596 You are are just a zealot with no understanding of reality. You're fixed on SMRs as the one and whole solution with little to zero understanding of the frailties of human nature. You are so narrow in your thought process that all you can see is the clear beautiful sky on a overcast day. As I said SMRs have a future no doubt, I just hope you have nothing to do with it.
