  1. The government doesn’t set interest rates the RBA does. Once inflation has been determined to be under control by the RBA then it will reduce mortgage rates, but it has to balance growth and employment as well. It is a fine balance. Inflation is coming down and the trend is good. The RBA aims for a target range between 2 and 3% so signs are good interest rates will be cut in the next 6 to 8 months.
