Yes I could never understand how the Libs went from 30 years of neo-liberalism economics to Keynesians overnight and became the biggest socialist government since WWII.

@briananderson7285 So you see no benefit in gaining knowledge and changing your opinion as you learn the facts.

@briananderson7285 I understand you don’t agree with her opinion and I have no problem with that. My point was if the facts change should you not change your opinion. I was taught at school in the 60s that aborigines had been in Australia for about 6000 years. Should I stick with that fact?

@briananderson7285 Yes people find it very confronting when something they thought was true turns out to be false. Cognitive dissonance sets in very quickly.

For what’s it’s worth during the 1950s when the US was experiencing some of its fastest growing economic growth sometimes in double digits it had personal progressive tax rates of well above 50% and no harm was done at all. The US remained the greatest economic powerhouse of all time.

@johnwoodrow8769 Yes this is the common argument which I don’t dismiss, it just doesn’t really ring true. Somebody earning $1500000 should not be paying the same amount of tax as someone earning $80000

@johnwoodrow8769 You missed a decimal point I said $1.5 million not 150k. I have no issue with your example I agree with you. However if you are suggesting someone on 150k should be paying the same amount of tax as someone on $5 million then this would be were we diverge.

@johnwoodrow8769 Irrelevant. I don't give a rats arse what percentage of people pay tax and I don't give a second rats arse how they earn it. I'm talking principle. All income should be taxed and progressively without exception. There is absolutely no evidence progressive tax systems are detrimental to a nation's economy. This even moves into the corporate world and company tax rates.

@johnwoodrow8769 I didn't suggest our corporate tax rate was progressive. It could be made to though or atleast significantly increased.

@DustyRhodes426 yeah try that in a federal court.
