Military hardware is not the issue. The little we have is good for training and maintaining our regional superiority in the South East pacific and Oceania region. We defeated the Japanese in WWII without a single carrier or submarine ( At full strength we had 6 cruisers). How did we do this? By maintaining strong connections to the UK and the US. It worked then and it will work again.

@micksmith-vt5yi No. HMAS Sydney entered service in 1948 and Melbourne 1955 both well after WWII finished. The two LHD we currently have provide a capability but nothing like a fleet carrier can.

@greg5023 Totally agree, as well the yanks have refuelled and refitted some of their block 3 LA boats and there is no change from $600 million.

@every1665 No we shouldn't expect them to, but make sure we trick them into it. Clever diplomacy can make them feel they have to. We did it in WWII and we can do it again.
