No repeat No defined benefit superannuation scheme is tax free. All defined benefit schemes pay some tax even after the age of 60. Also the government set up a future fund that funds government superannuation schemes. Also no defined benefit schemes still exist they have all been closed to new members.

@dmm8658 absolute rubbish. Not a single public servant has $10 million in superannuation. You are just making shit up.

You numbnuts carrying on about defined benefits schemes are talking out your arses. A defined benefit stops at death. It is not inherited or a tax dodge to create wealth.

@tk8364 I should know I am on one, and I recognise the generosity of it however, it dies with me or my wife and is not an tax dodge so my kids inherite it. I spent 35 years in the ADF and my family suffered that, so my wife is entitled to every cent she gets as well. These dicks that carry on about defined benefit schemes are talking out their arse.

@Happytablets Quite possibly. I don’t know how though as I already pay tax on my super payments. You could make all super payments fully taxable and remove the age entitlements.
