And rightly so. There is no such thing as an aboriginal genome and not enough genealogical data in the system to prove anything..

@robertslugg8361 Yes I understand your point, however there is actually a standard set by the High Court as a result of legal cases brought before it. To actually receive public money as a recognised aboriginal you must prove genealogy, identify as aboriginal, and thirdly be accepted by a recognised indigenous group or mob. You can say you're a cat it doesn't mean you are.

@McSnappples No you are factually wrong. There is no aboriginal genome. We are all Homo sapiens. One species. Yes I have more Neanderthal DNA in me than an aboriginal has he has more Denisovan DNA as this is a result of how we spread out from Africa and intermingled with other hominid species. There simply isn’t enough data in the system to determine Aboriginal ancestry by a simple DNA test.

Seriously use some common f#$king sense. Archeology evidence from Boodie cave on Barrow Island confirms indigenous occupation back at least 50000 years. Don’t make BS claims of 100000 years there is no evidence of that and no scientific paper has ever suggested that. It is an idiotic strawman argument.

@ZeeDeadlyPotato So yes the DNA record clearly shows a Sub continental influence approximately 5000 years ago in Northern Australia. This also lines up with a surge in cooking technology around this period and the introduction of the dingo. It is not evidence of where Aborigines came from. We all came from Africa.

@user-bn4jk8gn1k Not avoiding, just being factual. Mayan, Aztec, Incan, and Native American groups all lived successfully without the wheel. In South America mostly because it lacked a suitable draught animals. Ancient Egypt also went successfully without the wheel for a couple of thousand years till about 1600 BCE. The wheel was introduced into Australia in 1788, however the British certainly didn't invent the wheel, they learned it from someone else. I fail to see whatever point you are trying to make about Aboriginals not inventing the wheel. They had no use for it.

@ronhenney4546 Your claim of the dingo being here 7000 to 9000 years in based on what? The oldest known skeletal remains in the Mandura cave system on the Nullarbor Plains is only dated 3450 years ago.

@Brett.Crealy-kh1sk There is not enough data in the system for it to be reliable. What are you not understanding. I have had a family member do a DNA test (it was a Xmas present) and each year they get an update. The result initially was all over Britian, Ireland, Western Europe and Scandinavia. Now many years later it is virtually Ireland only. Eventually enough indigenous Australians will do DNA testing and the data will be accurate and reliable, but at the moment, currently it is not reliable. This is how science works.

There is a very recent study by the West Australian museum and the University of WA that has discovered some evidence of South East Asian trading between Northern Australian Aboriginal groups.

It is perfectly feasible considering the isolation of Australian Aboriginals that they did in isolation invent for themselves throwing stick technology ie the boomerang. @yasi4877 No. Factually incorrect. There is literally no physical evidence of any Denisovan presence here on the Australian mainland. Zero, Zilch, nothing. DNA evidence is not evidence of occupation only evidence of intermingling, which clearly the two species did. However this happened on the journey to Australia, not in it. If you can produce physical evidence of Denisovans here in Australia (ie a bone fragment) I'll stand corrected. A supposition is not evidence.

@ronhenney4546 I read Dark Emu and it didn't sit right with me. From what I knew I did do further research and many of Pascoes claims are not supported by the physical evidence. Having said that I also learnt Aboriginal society and culture was a lot more complicated and advanced than I was taught at school. There was trading, there were semi permanent structures, there was aqua culture, not necessarily as we would recognise it but there. Pascoe is not a scientist and many racists use him to create a strawman argument to denigrate indigenous culture.

@wakinglife7065 I have fact checked this idiotic claim a thousand times. Central Australian aboriginal groups have been dot painting for thousands of years. The medium they used was fingers in the sand of the ground and paint made from ochre on their bodies. This is recorded in the historical literature. What happened in the 70s was a school teacher observed there paintings during aboriginal ceremonies and providing acrylic paint and canvas and encouraged the people to use them. Claiming ignorantly that dot painting was invented by the French, it wasn't, but it was an art teacher named Geoffrey Bardon who introduced the paint and canvas is either deliberate racism or ignorant misinformation, you choose.

@TomasFunes-rt8rd No. There a different theories about the skeletal remains in Kow swamp, deformation of the skull by the conditions the remains were found in is just one, as well as simply the fact some random aboriginals may have held onto homo-erectus characteristics. The skeleton Al remains is by no means conclusive evidence of anything. All you have done is cherry pick data in a fallacious attempt to justify your argument.

As explained earlier scientists have suggested these skulls are simply deformities. All you have done is cherry pick some data that is evidence of nothing. Once again the overwhelming science both archaeological and DNA proves beyond reasonable doubt no human species other than Homo sapiens have inhabited the Australian mainland. This failed argument has been tried numerous times by Kieth Windshuttle and like in a discredit indigenous land rights. It has failed miserably every time.

The overwhelming science both archaeological and DNA shows beyond reasonable doubt only homo sapians have inhabitanted the Australian mainland. This argument was used by Keith Windshuttle and ilk in an attempt to discredit indigenous land rights. It failed in the courts every time.

I was taught 5000 years at school. The current accepted science has indigenous occupation at approximately 60000 years +/- 5000 years. This is called learning and it is what science is. No published peer reviewed scientific paper has ever suggested nor is there any evidence of 100000 years of occupation. Your comment is a nonsensical strawman fallacy.

@nicktrueman224 Yes Pascoes Dark Emu, was a deeply flawed document, however it did contain elements of fact that if you read it shows a culture much more complicated and advanced than I was certainly taught at school. There's no evidence it moved towards any sort of agricultural technology as we recognise, however semi permanent stone structures exist as do primitive structures to trap eels. I understand Pascoes motives to defend indigenous culture (poorly as it turns out) as there are still significant elements in Australia who will use the nomadic Hunter gatherer culture as a means to deny indigenous peoples land rights. Many conservatives (like Bolt, a convicted racist) use the flaws of Pascoe to denigrate indigenous culture generally. Many cultures used throwing sticks and Aboriginals certainly invented their own type and there is archaeological evidence they may have been the first, why attempt to disparage this achievement?

@McSnappples And I didn't say there isn't. What is impossible at the moment with the DNA data available in the system is it is not possible to determine aboriginality. We are all the same species homo sapians be it with some different characteristics due different genealogy.
