Almost universally this type of research has little to do with the rights of the new born but the control of women’s bodies. Having said that once born a child should have the same legal rights as anyone.

@metgirl5429 I see no reason at all why abortion can’t be used as a birth control method up to the first trimester. A women may not even know she is pregnant at this stage.

It is a myth that women are using abortion as a method of birth control. In fact, half of all women getting abortions report that contraception was used during the month they became pregnant. Some of these couples had used the method improperly; some had forgotten or neglected to use it on the particular occasion they conceived; and some had used a contraceptive that failed. No contraceptive method prevents pregnancy 100% of the time. If abortion were used as a primary method of birth control, a typical woman would have at least two or three pregnancies per year -- 30 or more during her lifetime. In fact, most women who have abortions have had no previous abortions (52%) or only one previous abortion (26%)5. Considering that most women are fertile for over 30 years, and that birth control is not perfect, the likelihood of having one or two unintended pregnancies is very high.

@elainechitty4797 No contraceptive is 100% reliable. Women have sex for pleasure and enjoyment not just to reproduce. What century are you living in?

Why?

@sarahberry3819 Your reply is nonsensical gibberish and totally refuted by every single point in my own comment. It is however somewhat telling that you suggest “just say no” what mind boggling stupidity does this come from. Women have sex for enjoyment and pleasure not just to have children. It is as if you a living in a 1950s bubble.

@superdavies5548 Absolute garbage. Did you even understand the data. If it was being used as a means of birth control then a women would be having 2 or 3 are year and 20 or 30 during their life. This is simply not the case. Birth control (pill and IUD) and condoms are not 100% effective. There is simply not vast quantities of women having numerous repeated abortions. You are living in a fantasy land.

@yvie0136 For whatever reason they don't want children. Please don't tell me you're one of those "it's only for reproduction purposes". I mean get a grip on reality.
1
@BusterNoggins Yeah just say no, pure ridiculousness. Are you some kind of religious nutjob?
1
@mindlessmotion5864A totally vacuous comment.

@johncrow5552 Nothing wrong with that. Almost universally abortions in the last trimester are the result of life threatening health concerns for the mother or abnormalities with the foetus. I understand that’s not a concern for you, but it is for the woman.
1
@johncrow5552 A particularly disgraceful piece of misogyny, implying all women simply choose abortion for convenience.
1
@johncrow5552 Abortion is not murder as defined either in the bible or legally. Your use of the word murder is both factually incorrect and a deliberate attempt to persuade using emotion rather than facts.
1
@johncrow5552 No shaming that would be impossible. Just fact based observation.
1
@johncrow5552 Nope the rights of the foetus never overide the rights of the women, in any circumstance. You have no interest in human rights, you are simply about controlling women and their bodies.
1
@johncrow5552 No it is quite obvious your argument has nothing to do with preserving life, but merely controlling women’s bodies.
1
@ No you are factually incorrect. The word “kill” is a mistranslation of Hebrew and technically more correct translation is the word “murder”. Don’t take my word for it ask any half decent bible scholar or academic. Further more in the Old Testament nowhere is personhood granted to the unborn. In fact there are many circumstances where killing is more than just accepted it is encouraged. I’m surprised you felt the need to comment on a subject you clearly have little knowledge of. You need to read a bible.
