Yeah who needs to be reminded of the children being raped and sexually assaulted. Let’s just put all that back in the cupboard.
3
To all those Grace Tame haters out there. Just watch Dylan Alcott say I love you Tamey during his tennis match on centre court and then tell me anything she did at his AOTY awards concerned him even the remotest.
3
@Not Convinced Yeah why can’t why rape and assault whoever we like. You numbnuts.
2
Absolute rubbish. Watch Dylan express his love for her on centre court during his tennis final. She spoiled nothing
2
It wasn’t meant to be therapy!!!!! She was continually raped by a paedophile school teacher over a period of years and became a fierce advocate for sexual assault victims and your concern is a surly smile at a photo op. How could you be so unbelievably vacuous and shallow
2
@lee-annebarrett366 I’m not a psychologist and would not presume want Ms Tame needs or not. She appears to me to be a confident and fierce advocate for sexual assault victims and richly deserved her status as Australian of year. I would not be as presumptive as you and decide what you think is best for another personal health. She is a grown woman who can decide for herself.
2
@kazkaz2212 Why because of a surly look at a photo op? That’s it, because she didn’t smile for the camera your sensibilities are so hurt! She is a fierce advocate for sexual assault victims. I noticed the current Australian of the year acknowledged her presence at his game today and they were photographed together both with huge beaming smiles.
2
Even PVO himself has now come out and admitted his criticism was over the top and he shouldn't have publicly expressed it. Kinda makes you lot look a bit stupid.
2
WTF because of a surly look for a photo op. No what was wasted was the time you put into your empty shallow statement.
2
@merleboyd9962 She was a vulnerable 15 year old girl her rapist was her 53 year old school teacher. You may want to delete your unbelievabley stupid and insensitive comment.
2
@northshorecouple1060 All I can hope for is that my grandchildren and your children/grandchildren never cross the paths of RODS or Tester Bend.
1
@testerbend2865 Happy for facts, except your fact is a clear lie in a deliberate attempt to obfuscate the issue. From the date of the alleged offence to being reported at Belconnen police station it was 17 days. Even the most generous reading of the statistics relating to the instances of reporting of sexual offences shows your comment to be completely idiotic.
1
@testerbend2865 Interesting that right-wing nutjobs when shown the actual facts don't bother to apologise just more obfuscation by inserting their own opinions as if it fact. You said 2 years to report the assault the record at Belconnen police station says 17 days. Get your facts straight before running off at the mouth.
1
@testerbend2865 No, you said 2 years to lodge a formal complaint, it was in fact 17 days. You made the claim "you ppl don't like the facts" when clearly beyond even reasonable doubt you didn't have your facts straight, and when this is pointed out to you instead of just acknowledging you made a mistake in typical "you ppl" fashion you double down on your obvious error. Just delete your comments and move on.
1
@testerbend2865 No, you were, are, and remain demonstrablely wrong. A police report/complaint was made at Belconnen police station 17 days after the alleged sexual assault. Yes after that report/complaint was made she chose for a period not to follow it up, but you had your facts wrong and accused others of not having the facts. Just rank hypocrisy on your behalf. I make no judgement on Ms Higgins decision making process or reasons therefore, other to make the point if you had any understanding of the statistics/reasons why reporting of sexual assault is hugely under reported something like 87% of sexual assaults are not even reported then your dismissive attitude as to why she didn't follow it up might have some value, but in context of this discussion is worthless.
1
@testerbend2865 I have read the timeline and you were caught out red handed stating incorrect data. You then attempt to cloud the issue, with personal abuse you got your facts wrong and accused others "you ppl" in the stupid blind ignorant belief your opinion could not be possibly wrong. Total and utter hypocrisy.
1
@testerbend2865 Wrong again, Ms Higgins logged a formal complaint at Belconnen police station on 8 April 2019. On 11 April 2019 she declined to proceed with that complaint. You had your facts wrong, your language wrong, and all you had to do was acknowledge that but "you ppl" can't handle the facts.
1
@testerbend2865 What a crock, as I said your understanding of under reporting is completely wrong as well. Victims are concerned about retaliation, both perpetrator and society, a lack of faith in police taking any action, victim blaming, (you obviously know all about that) and numerous others but none of the reasons you sighted, they were total rubbish. You don't know the factual details and timeline of Ms Higgins assault, you don't have any understanding of why sexual assault is under reported, what do you know as a fact?
1
@testerbend2865 There are numerous variables and statistics vary from society and cultures but the data suggests that false/ baseless reporting of sexual assault come in around 5%. So yes it happens, but really. Courts don't find perpetrators of sexual assault innocent they find them not guilty by reason of doubt. Your ignorance on sexual assault data astounds me.
1
@testerbend2865 Well that was atleast a somewhat sensible comment finally. However you are still confusing why under reporting exists and the complexity of achieving convictions in the courts, but I'll be generous with you. God has little to nothing to do with morality. The Christian bible for instance clearly advocates for rape and the subjugation of women. Nobody needs a god or a book to know it's wrong to force your will on someone else.
1
@testerbend2865 Don't misunderstand me there are plenty of fine teachings and words in the Christian bible.
1
@testerbend2865 And I'm glad we agree, that with little to no knowledge of Ms Tame's personal psychological status you made several comments that were neither relevant or accurate about her. You also were technically inaccurate with your facts about Ms Higgins sexual assault. No problems with further reading on the subject of sexual assault in Australia you will learn.
1
@testerbend2865 Yep, and that’s wants wrong with “you ppl” From date of offence in the Ms Higgins case to the reporting of complaint to police was 17 days not the 2 years you claimed and you can’t even admit this mistake and then have the chutzpah to criticise Ms Tame behaviour.
1
@testerbend2865 Nice try to obfuscate again. I never claimed Ms Higgins proceeded with the complaint of sexual assault that she reported 17 days after the incident. You incorrectly claimed it was 2 years after the incident. Your claim was factually incorrect. I made no initial comment on Ms Tame other than to provide some context as to why a victim of a paedophile rapist that was her school teacher may be a bit discerning in adult hood as to whom she trusts.
1
@testerbend2865 No I caught you being factually incorrect when accusing others of not knowing the facts and you are using a word salad in an attempt to hide your inability to accept you made a mistake.
1
@testerbend2865 I will make this simple for you. You claimed it took 2 years for Ms Higgins to lodge a formal complaint about a sexual assault. I proved that claim absolutely false. Ms Higgins lodged a formal complaint of sexual assault at Belconnen police station 17 days after the alleged assault. Your claim was factually wrong on all counts.
1
@testerbend2865 No they are correct. You obviously were unaware of this when you claimed it took her two years, and are unable to admit your mistake.
1
@testerbend2865 So at this point you have yourself so twisted that you now believe your factual error was not a mistake by creating a word salad around it. You are now either being deliberately deceitful or suffering from cognitive dissonance.
1
@testerbend2865 In your fourth reply to northshorecouple, you claimed it took Ms Higgins 2 years to lodge a formal complaint to police. That claim was factually incorrect it was in fact 17 days. It was approximately 2 years after the alleged assault she asked police to proceed with the matter, but that not what you said. I am now convinced that you were not mistaken but deliberately obfuscated to emphasise your political bias and your comment had nothing to do with the facts.
1
@testerbend2865 We agree on that. You have nothing to add.
1
Spoken with all the empathy of a privileged male.
1
@androclesejones6755 Ms Tame has admitted publicy to have been diagnosed with PTSD.
1
@mnmmnm8321 The empirical data suggests otherwise. On almost all counts other than total average lifespan women lag behind men.
1
@mnmmnm8321 I will take your nervous laughter as an acknowledgment of my fact based reply was correct. Thanks.
1
@mnmmnm8321 I made a pertinent respectful comment on a semi public platform. I have not been abusive and you engaged me in comment. In no way shape of form is that trolling. I don’t think you even know what a troll is.
1
There have been several real beauty comments here on this thread but yours takes the cake as the most stupid. How did in your twisted brain manage to confuse a strong assertive manner developed through repeatedly advocating for sexual assault victims into abuse. No this is abuse!
1
@robertnicholson1409 Why? he never showed her any respect
1
@rods6405 And your comment completely sums up the sheer lack of concern for children who are groomed and raped by adults in our culture. I hope that my grandchildren never cross your path.
1
@rods6405 You understand this is a semi public forum and you are defending a convicted sexual abuser who groomed a vulnerable 15 year old girl for sex ( that’s rape). He has since been convicted of further crimes relating to child pornography. Just delete the utter rubbish you have written and try and get away without sounding to creepy.
1
@rods6405 You have taken the most generous of spins on it from the defendant’s side that’s for sure. You don’t seem at all to grasp the intricacies of how paedophiles groom their victims.
1
@rods6405 No he explained fully in a radio interview how he groomed her, and has subsequently been convicted of possessing child pornography. Are you that naive that you need a dot painting to join the lines.
1
@rods6405 You seem to be transfixed by the word relationship in the charge for which he was convicted. It is still a serious sexual offence.
1
She wasn’t there for the PM she was there for the Australian of the year awards
1
@kazkaz2212 I am sure Ms Tame has no interest in your so called feelings of embarrassment for her. She knew exactly what she was doing, and I would be proud to call her my daughter as one of the finest Australians alive today.
1
@kazkaz2212 Maybe the fact she was groomed and systematically raped by a paedophile has something to do with it, or is that beyond your grasp.
1
@kazkaz2212 At least I know it's wrong to rape intoxicated young women, something that seems to have escaped our PM.
1
@neil999ish totally agree rape is rape, the sex of the rapist is irrelevant.
1
B F Your comment may have had some weight except the new AOTY expressed his admiration of her at the awards ceremony and expressed this even further at the Australian open tennis final. Absolutely no one at the awards ceremony was offended and this is just a beat up by right wing nut jobs who feel personally blighted because their demagogue wasn’t kneeled before. Your comment is pointless and without value.
1
B F If you get a chance there is another photo in the media this one has Ms Tame and current AOTY Dylan Alcott together. Both are showing beaming smiles and clearly they are both comfortable in each other’s presence. That’s the difference when you are with someone you trust, as opposed to someone who you do not personally trust.
1
@katbar6066 No you are factually incorrect. Ms Tame was greeted and treated warmly by all other parties at the event and she was photographed smiling and so we’re all the other guests. Dylan Alcott who was announced as AOTY spoke to Ms Tame and was glowing in his respect and admiration of her. So completely unaffected by a photo op that Dylan took time out of his tennis match the following day to acknowledge her presence. She showed disdain for a man she doesn’t trust and was brave enough to do so. Get over your bias or would you prefer fake civility. Me I'm for honesty.
1
@katbar6066 Considering Ms Tame was repeatedly raped by a man she trusted (her schoolteacher) she now has the right to be as blatantly rude to any man she distrusts. In that context your correct I am all for rudeness.
1
Now PVO has been named in a workplace bullying allegation lawsuit. It just keeps getting better and better. Nothing like an alleged workplace bully complaining about some other persons manners.
1
@joywilliams8444 Said with all the empathy of a paedophile rapist. You seem to lack even the basic knowledge of how paedophiles groom and rape children. I can only hope my wife, daughter, daughter in law and two grand daughters never cross your path.
1
@joywilliams8444 If you remotely had any true concern for the survivors of paedophile rapists you may have read Ms Tames response to the continuing moronic comments by essentially uncaring and to a certain extant perpetrators of sexual violence as yourself.
1
@joywilliams8444 The PM by his own words was unable to form a empathic and coherent response to the Brittany Higgins sexual assault without consulting his wife. That was my only comment about the PM and was factually correct. Your comment is nonsensical as a reply.
1
@kazkaz2212 Factually incorrect. After her comments, speeches, and the media attempts to discredit her, record amount’s of monies (in the millions) have been donated to her foundation that supports victims of child sex abuse. So your comment is worse than pointless it is just plain wrong. You are completely fixated on what your opinion of appropriate behaviour is. I assume you have some psychological qualifications to support this view?
1
@mnmmnm8321 Jeez I had to look that up. As much as I enjoy a personal insult that was funny. It didn’t contribute in any way to the discussion though, but I’m sure you normally find discussions on PTSD, child rape, and sexual abuse just a forum for you to express your comedic skills.
1
The Grace Tame foundation is a philanthropic organisation to campaign for and help fund initiatives which work to prevent and respond to sexual abuse of children and others. Through Ms Tames support it has attracted millions of dollars in donations.
1
@joywilliams8444 Your absolutely right people are terrified of rape survivors speaking up loudly and showing the injustices in the system and how politicians deflect to avoid real change. In that regard they are all about themselves.
1
@joywilliams8444 You have completely missed the point of her advocacy. Your personal experience is an anecdotal fallacy and is invalid. You may not believe she was raped, but her rapist went to gaol and has consequently been convicted of possessing child pornography. Since Ms Tame spoke out several other women have no come forward and told how he groomed them as well. What are you not getting about this?
1
@joywilliams8444 It is politicans that write the legislation that protects child rapists, that's why.
1
@joywilliams8444 Her rapist was not accused he was found guilty by a jury in a court of law. The law at the time prevented the public notification of the conviction, so his further crimes were hidden. It was only Ms Tames advocacy that enabled the law to be changed and more victims to come forward. The legislation hid the rapists identity. You really don’t know what you are commenting on.
1
@userjoe4321 Atleast my comment had some depth and content to it, unlike yours.
1
I notice today the current Australian of the year acknowledged Ms Tame presence at his game and they were photographed together with huge beaming smiles. I doubt very much Dylan would have a single harsh word for Ms Tame.
1
@userjoe4321 Why to make a rape apologist feel good about himself. A man so lost in amoral marketing that he needs his wife to explain the seriousness of sexual assaults on young women.
1
@userjoe4321 No I’m defending a wonderful intelligent young woman from a whole lot of senseless bile and hatred that seems more political than anything else, but yes your right criticism of Ms Tame is pointless.
1
@userjoe4321 Except my criticism is bile and hatred and yours is just valid criticism. Looks like a clear double standard there. One rule for J another for the rest of us.
1
@userjoe4321 The issue has nothing to do with my political opinion Ms Tame or the PM. By his on words the PM admitted publicly he needed guidance about the actions he needed to take when a sexual assault of a parliamentary staffer was reported to his office. His actions and words since then are evidence of his inability to deal with allegations of sexual assault. Once again this has got nothing to do with politics but to the essence of the morality of a person. Your attempt to cloud the issue by raising politics is showing your obfuscation.
1
@userjoe4321 I mentioned nothing about his Christian faith only that he, as an individual clearly lacks the ability to empathise with sexual assault victims. You opened up a can of worms though. The Christian bible is chock full of references that advocate for rape and the subjugation of women and children so in that regard you 100% accurate he is reflecting his Christian faith.
1
Exactly what is your priority to teach to a child who was repeatedly raped by her school teacher? Smile for the cameras. The shallowness of your comment is now on public display. If I was you I’d delete it, but hey to each their own
