  1. We already did that, and for two years our CO2 emissions immediately were significantly reduced and there was no repeat no decernible effect on the normal inflation rate. It was called the Clean Energy Act 2011.

  3.  @oldnutta7611  And that's exactly what the clean energy act was. A carbon emissions trading scheme which is just a fancy term for carbon credits. It was very cleverly mischaracterised as carbon tax for political purposes, and good luck to Tony Abbott it got him elected. Some time later Peta Credlin admitted publicly it was never a tax, but what the hell that's politics.
