@peterdixon7705 fair enough, I suppose there is a certain comfort in that.

1. Any basic understanding of the NEM clearly shows there is no lack of capacity in system. Peak capacity far outweighs peak demand. A 2min read of the NEM website would reveal this to you. 2. Currently wind and solar prices have not increased, so yes if there was more renewables in the system then price variation would be less. 3. Only someone who has no knowledge of current affairs would be unable to grasp that sanctions against Russia due to the war in Ukraine have taken a significant amount of fossil fuel supply out of the world market. In the case of gas 40% from the EU. This is basic economics 101 demand and supply. 4. Increasing renewables will reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. I do agree we need to source the infrastructure from better suppliers. 5. I agree nuclear energy should be considered, it is safe, relatively clean and reliable, however it is not cheap, every LCOE study proves this.

@peterdixon7705 I understand your desire for a calm peaceful life here in Oz, I spent my entire working life trying to make that happen, however ignoring geo politics and science is not going to bring you serenity.

@hc3657 That would make slightly more sense if Australia wasn’t the largest exporter of LNG in the world.

@hc3657 NSW and Victoria don’t allow fracking for environmental concerns, the NT the same but I think they have reversed that decision. Gas supply has been secured federally exactly the same way as the WA government did. The Turnbull government did this. The current situation has got absolutely nothing to do with gas companies unable to explore in NSW and Victoria. The transition to renewables is a process still underway and had been sidelined by 9 years of LNP indecision. Battery technology and storage technology is rapidly advancing.
