The Australian economy is 13th largest economy in the world and is growing, you are just factually wrong.

@ No you are wrong and I was correct. I simply said the economy has grown which it has. In the last year it has grown very slowly, I totally agree, but grown never the less. The last recession was under the LNP, not Labor.

That must be why our economy is the 13th largest in the world.

@johnk838 No factually incorrect. Reference the data. The GDP in the last three years has grown. 2022 3.9% 2023 3.6% 2024 1%. You are just wrong.

@ No you are incorrect and have just gone for the strawman (fallacious argument). I explicitly mentioned GDP not per capita GDP, which by the way went negative during the previous LNP government as well. In the last three years wages have exceeded inflation, property prices have increased. Dividing the GDP by the population and suggesting our living standards have decreased is nonsensical garbage. It does show the nation’s productivity is not improving and that’s a serious issue, but your economic analysis is just political partisan garbage. Inflation is now back inside the RBA target range and underlying inflation continues to decline. Both these issues were worldwide, as a result of Covid and regional conflicts well outside Australia’s control. Australia’s recovery has not been as quick as some but far better than most.

@ No factually incorrect a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP. That hasn’t happened. Go read an economics textbook. Productivity and government spending without private spending or private investment is the main cause of the GDP per capita negative growth. Wages have keep pace with inflation, unemployment is at 4%. The economy is stuttering that is undeniable, but it isn’t as bad as you make out.
