So indigenous serviceman that fought in WWII for Australia at Tobruk and Kokoda were denied voting rights, war pensions and banned from RSL clubs on their return to Australia. Many talked fondly of their time in the Army as they were payed and treated as equals. That didn’t last once the got back to Australia. The Japanese and Germans treated them better than their own countrymen.

@daniellebcooper7160 You claimed our children so I assumed you meant Australian children are not being taught a specific period of modern history being the Stalin and Mao regimes of China and the Soviet Union. An educational syllabus is only so much and you can't teach everything. Personally I would prioritise Australian history over any other. That's not to say for instance Ancient Greek history should not be taught as it is the foundation of our civilisation, you just have to prioritise and Modern Russian history I don't see as a priority in primary school.

@daniellebcooper7160 That in teaching history at primary and secondary level you have limited time and resources. The terrible excesses of the Mao and Stalin regimes while important to have a knowledge of in my opinion take less of a priority than Australian history and our place in world history.
