@samopalvampirenvonbutlegin8603 That is the free market. If you are so desperate for a coal fired power plant, go to a bank borrow the money and build one, you won’t because you would do your doe. Every LCOE study has wind and solar cheaper to build and cheaper to produce that fossil fuels. No investor in their right mind would build a coal plant in Australia today. The economics don’t make it worthwhile.

I will also point out current national demand is approximately 30000 Mwa and our capacity is around 50000 Mwa, we don’t urgently need any power generation at all. Data is from the NEM.

@wulfeman9948 US oil companies have over 6000 approved oil licenses to produce oil. The US was importing 9.1 million barrels a day in 2019 (Trumps last year in office). It is simplistic to just blame the Biden administration for supply and demand issues caused by the Pandemic and the oil industries slow response to the recovery. There is a worldwide oil shortage, it is not uniquely a US problem.

I didn't dissolve the Biden administration of any blame at all and you have refuted nothing of my argument other than just doubling down on your clear lack of understanding of how the global trade in oil effects supply and demand. With Trump it was TDS, with you and Biden it is UTP (unbalanced thought process)

@wulfeman9948 The Biden administration didn't order a reduction in production it stopped any further searching as there were already 6000 unused licences to produce. US oil production merely tried to adjust to the pandemic recession and got it wrong. The Biden administration actually tried to reduce prices by releasing some of the strategic reserves.

Your political bias is clear and it interrupts with your logical thought processes. I lied about nothing. Go read a book on economics and pay attention to the supply and demand chapter.
