Who said anything about race. It is about the original owners (accepted by Australian common law). They are not a race, they are an ethnic/cultural group. Why would you raise race as an issue?

@tb7667 Cite your data reference.

@tb7667 There is no distinct aboriginal genome. Aboriginality is determined by genealogy, identification, and acceptance. There is only one human species currently is existence, homo sapians. Try again.

@tb7667 This interpretation is scientifically incorrect. While I will accept you think there are different races it is simply not true. Race is a social construct. You and I and an aboriginal are exactly the same, homo sapians, your DNA is exactly the same as mine and an indigenous person. You will of course have significantly different genealogy. Europeans have a bit more Neanderthals in us and aboriginals have a bit more denisovans in them. This is merely a reflection of how we moved out of Africa. For the most part of human history race was not a thing it was something constructed by us for in the most part nefarious reasons. If you can't understand the significance of 70000 years indigenous history prior to colonisation then there is little I can say. You will vote no in ignorance and good luck to you, that is your right.

And again more racist comments as soon as Ms Burney is the subject of a Skynews article. The referendum may not get up, but at least the racist dimwits who watch Skynews have clearly been identified.

Why? Does it offend you an indigenous person can afford to purchase a designer jacket? Seems a fairly bigoted opinion to me.
1
Why do you raise race as an issue. Why is a constitutional voice racist?
1
@EL-FUKKO Factually incorrect. I will accept however there are numerous ethnic/cultural groups that all call ourselves Australians or though some may not. I did not imply/suggest/claim anybody owes anybody anything. I have no idea what you are talking about. A constitutionally enshrined advisory body is not in anyway preferential political power. It is by definition and structure and cause non-political.
1
@jordywatson7829 No it doesn’t, all it does is enshrine an advisory body in the constitution for the original inhabitants of our country. Race has absolutely nothing to do with it. Our society is already divided, socially, economically, geographically, politically. Your argument has no weight.
1
@jordywatson7829 I would suggest to you that indigenous people advising on what indigenous people think is best for them is significantly more efficient than us telling them what we think is best for them. Which we have been doing and failing at for over 200 years. For instance there are numerous improvements in indigenous healthcare and particularly midwifery that can easily be incorporated into our western system if only we could listen to the advice of indigenous people. This would immediately improve health outcomes for indigenous people and close the LEB gap between indigenous and the non indigenous population. Could you please give me an indication of what sort of lie Albo is spinning in regard to a “Treaty”. Thanks.

@jordywatson7829 So yours is a common misapprehension. Elected politicians at a federal level are elected to represent thier electorate or state not thier ethnic/cultural background. They represent their political party not their cultural background. Conceivably at the next election there could be no indigenous people elected and your argument goes out the window. A constitutionally enshrined voice however ensures indigenous advice to parliament of a non political nature. You seem to be uncomfortable with the democratic process of debate/discussion and choice. I don't understand why you think this is divisive. It has been Labor party policy for 40 years to seek a Treaty with Indigenous peoples. Bob Hawke declared this publicly when he was PM. Just 2 minutes of research on the Labor Party website reveals this information. I have no understanding of why you think it is being hidden as it has been common public knowledge for over 40 years. This just emphasises to me the total lack of knowledge by the no voters who I'm sorry to say just seem to be making shit up. I know that sounds harsh but that is my honest assessment. Thanks very much for your time and input.

So it is just about self interest to you. That explains a lot to me about No voters. Thankyou.
