@Seagulligus It also a budget figure, which means it may not cost the entire amount and it’s just an over simplification to divide the amount by the 2700 homes target.

@Seagulligus What you may not know it NorForce, the Pilbara Regiment, and 51 Battalion form what is called the Regional Force Surveillance group. These Army Reserve units (which have large elements of indigenous soldiers) conduct real time operational surveillance duties in Northern Australia protecting our coastline.

@knight2425 To certain extent as neither of us knows the exact details. I know that literally everything in remote locations costs more. The productivity commission has concluded this. This is my personal experience as well, however I don’t use my personal experience has evidence.

@knight2425 Interestingly when called to provide just one bit of factual data you fail. I acknowledge a house built by a developer in an outer Sydney suburb costs less than $500000. You seem completely unable to understand that the remote locations of some of these communities many of which are in cyclone prone locations which just adds cost onto cost is vastly more expensive. You yourself admit getting workers may be difficult which will add cost as more attractive salaries will be needed to be offered. You provide no evidence of any of your claims other than your personal experience which by its nature is anecdotal and fallacious nonsense and have the chutzpah to call me a troll. Hilarious.

@knight2425 I have provided numerous reasons why remote construction costs are significantly more than building in cities. All you have done is divide a budgetary figure with a planned outcome to arrive at a figure and then accuse me of being stupid. Hilarious.

Did it even occur to anyone the cost probably includes roads, and utilities. In remote locations where is the workforce going to live? FIFO workers still need accommodation and meals. I mean just use a bit of commonsense.

@kzkz1263 Building in remote areas is more costly. As well the budget includes infrastructure ie electricity and roads plus maintenance. So as mentioned now numerous times it is simplistic to just divide the budget by 2700 and arrive at a cost per house.
